“Nice hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2012

We arrived to this hotel late as we had other reservations at an awful hotel a few exits up and decided to stay somewhere else. The friendly staff were so welcoming and told us they would take care of us...they gave us a great room at a good price considering our circumstances. Beds were amazingly comfortable with your choice of firm or soft pillows. Our bathroom could have used a good spring cleaning...a bit of extra scrubbing along the door and the drain of the bathroom were needed...but considering the other options for hotels nearby...it was great.

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights. The outside of the hotel is plain but nice but I noticed a lack of signage which made things confusing because there are two hotels on one property. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Check-in went very smoothly. The rooms are nice and recently redone just like the rest of the hotel to give it a more modern feel. As the other reviews suggest, the bathrooms are tiny and awkwardly positioned. The best part of the stay was the time I spent in the pool and the patio outside of the pool. The pool attendant was just great, it was like having a personal concierge. The gentleman helped us decide on a restaurant to go to and some activities to do the following day. He really went the extra mile to help with all of my questions. The entire hotel has wi-fi but unfortunately the pool is the only exception to that. The hotel offers free shuttle service within a 3 mile radius that we took advantage of to take to a great local restaurant. The stay was great overall and will be recommending to my friends and family!

I attended a convention here and after reading bad reviews, I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are fairly typical Holiday Inn rooms and although the bathroom was small, it was well laid out and newly revamped. Hotel was clean and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Room service breakfast was on time and the restaurant was good. Overall a good experience.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the larger rooms.

I stayed here for a conference. We had conference food and it was acceptable. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful as noted in many of the reviews. The facilities were good for our meetings. We had the right amount of space.

However, I would agree that the bathrooms are small. And in our room the shower was not working properly. The water did not properly come out of the shower head. We could live with it, but it should have been better. I think that we were overcharged for the box lunches on the last day. The bar was pretty unappealing. It felt like an overgrown closet.

But, our group will be back for one more year and I think it will be fine for the weekend. I think I will check the shower in my room though. ; )

Pam

Room Tip: Elevators can be slow. If you're up for walking ask for a lower floor to make that option easier...

The family took a trip to the Syracuse area for my son's bowling tournament and one of the hotels offered was the Holiday Inn. The hotel was easy to get to from both Rte. 81 and the NYS Thru-way. It's toward the end of the main drag where you can find a multitude of stores, restaurants and the like. Pulling in, there was more than enough parking and the lot was very large.

Entering the lobby we found a very clean facility. Check-in was no problem and the two girls behind the counter was both friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 3rd floor and making our way to the elevators we could see this was also the way to get to the indoor pool. So naturally as you got closer to the pool doors the smell of the chlorine from the pool was detected. But it wasn't harsh and IMHO gave a larger impression of the place being clean. We spent a few hours at the pool one afternoon and the area was very clean. There was an attendant there the whole time and next to her was more than enough clean towels - and not the scratchy cheap ones either. Nice touch.

Our room was a nice size - ours had two double beds a desk and chair, a lounging chaise, and then the dresser with the flat screen on top. As has been reported the bathrooms are small, and ours was, but really... you're not living in the bathroom. You could use the toilet, wash your face and take a shower so it was all good in my book.

The beds were comfortable and even the pillows were marked with a ribbon letting you know if they were firm or soft. Another nice touch. A point I read about was the temperature of the rooms. Our's had a wall thermostat and I set the temp to what we wanted and the unit work perfectly.

With the hotel in close proximity to the Thru-way I thought the traffic might be a problem at night. But that thought was unfounded, there was no traffic noise at all.

We ate breakfast n the hotel restaurant twice and all was found satisfactory. The first morning we ate from the buffet and the second day we ordered from the menu. The restaurant was closed for lunch and we didn't eat dinner there.
For the price I would have no problem recommending the Holiday Inn to friends.

Major renovation in all areas, however rooms and bathrooms are small. Walls are thin. Spring day was warm so needed AC in room however temperature was to drop at night and the unit blew out hot air? I called maintenance and he informed me the manager "changed the hotel system from AC to heat?" The whole hotel, every unit? Never heard such a thing.
So it was a hot night in the room, not comfortable.
Thin walls so heard other rooms and those in the hall.
Right on Route 90 so heard that as well.
