Mid November 2016 Anniversary getaway. Found hotel on Groupon at a great price. It’s the beginning of the “off season”. Dislikes: parking, not great but given the space not much they can change to improve it. Parking is across the street at two large lots that are much lower than the hotel so it doesn’t impede your views from the hotel. This is not really a complaint, just not your normal drive up and park hotel. Continental breakfast wasn’t much to write home about. Understandable because it’s the off season and very few rooms booked mid-week. Likes: Staff, Dana was extremely knowledgeable about the area and recommended several excellent places to eat. Hotel has an impressive stone exterior overlooking the river and Canada. Interior has an old school charm, no front counter, just a couple of desks and a large sitting area and an event bar, lots of hardwood throughout. Our room: Overlooked the river, large shower and restroom, gas fireplace gave the room a cozy feel, bed was large and very comfortable with high thread count sheets. All requests (Ironing board, wine glasses, etc) were handled quickly. After requesting extra towels the first day the maid service replaced them each day without asking. The area: Barton Hill sits at the end of Center Street and walking distance from all the quaint town has to offer. Across from Barton Hill is the Water Street Landing. Excellent food, Steak, Pork Chop were amazing, right on the water with a great view! Center Street has lots of excellent restaurants and shops. A quick shout out to a few establishments in town, DiCamillo’s Bakery everything was fresh. Apple Granny, Staff was friendly, Seafood stuffed Cod wow! Casa Antica, Homemade pasta, Best Chicken Parmesan. Art Park looked to be quite the place to be during the season. Lots of great hiking trails to walk the gorge. The falls are just minutes away. Feeling adventurous, Niagara Jet Adventures is open year round in nearby Youngstown.

This is a great hotel with many appointments that make you feel you are partially old world but all of today... Our very large, comfortable room had nice remote fireplace and hardwood floors and good view...nice four poster king bed-- bedding was great with fresh high end sheets and pillows...big plus!
Phillip was great...he was very accommodating and brought a mini fridge to our room at his suggestion and even mailed my watch home to me in Florida when I called about leaving it in the room...one staff member (forget her name, Christina? young girl at check-in) was not as gifted for a "hospitality" role...forget her name but proceeded to tell me she has been there "three years" (I guess to lend credibility to the fact that she really is fit for her role) which was the only time she looked up at us, just very rude and had no time for us and we were the only ones checking in -- it was Christmas day, pretty quiet.....ask for Philip if you need anything--prompt and genuinely courteous; you truly remember that you are on holiday! Shame the restaurant was under renovation but will definitely return and try it again. The location is perfect for a charming getaway...there was a nice hotel right across the river at the bottom of the street (across the road from this hotel)

This hotel is truly beautiful and a lovely place for a romantic getaway. It overlooks the Niagara River and the staff were just wonderful - very friendly and helpful and wanted to ensure your stay was perfect.

Our room was beautiful and spacious. A corner room, heard no noise from the staff room beside us or the neighbours on the other side. The bathroom was lovely, the jacuzzi tub big enough for the 2 of us to enjoy. The fireplace a lovely touch.

We were there for a romantic getaway for 2 days and it was lovely.

We booked his and hers Peppermint Seaweed wraps at the spa and you could smell the peppermint throughout the lobby on our way, and the staff there were also warm and friendly.

The continental breakfast was just that, but lots of food and it was delicious.

Our experience overall was spectacular. We enjoyed a walk along the river and the nice 5 minute walk to downtown Historic Lewiston (although the hill is a bit of climb).

Will definitely be back some day, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.

The price was also great, not sure how we were able to get such a great price, but look for deals, they do exist.

Room Tip: I think the name of our room was the Noreen Retreat (not shown on the website) - Room 223. No river view from it, but it was a quiet oasis.

overpriced, not kid friendly, couldn't find a freaking ironing board for us - we were going to a graduation ceremony - they finally find one right before we are to leave after we asked for one that morning, and reminded them we still needed it, but they had no cover on the ironing board - had to use a towel over the metal. also had to remind them to get more shampoo, etc. it's like they had no service personnel at all.

super loud - wedding party upstairs on top floor walking on hard wood all hours of the day and night, for days, - difficult for my child to nap and sleep with walking overhead

hotel did NOT offer to comp anything for all the trouble and was incredibly over priced

we are from pinehurst and the quality of service and offers to accommodate are not what we expected for what we paid for this room for four nights!!!

Room Tip: must request the top floor or in the back with no view in order to be able to sleep

The room was very spacious, the bathroom was enormous! The fireplace in the room was a very nice touch. The hotel has a beautiful view of the Niagara River. It was very cold when we were there, but would have loved to walk down to the river. It is a short drive to Niagara Falls area.
