If you do go to Brela, this IS the place so visit. On the main road before coming to intersection to Brela, coming from Split.
Great local food, fantastic service, great atmosphere and great view from the terrace.
Too bad it starts in the evenings and closed out of season, because they would be busy at that time as well.

This is a great restaurant with a terrific terrace view up the Brac Channel towards Split, especially at sunset. The food is traditional Croatian, cooked well and is very good value. The only downside is that the outside terrace upstairs is always popular and so is always full and cannot be pre booked, however, there is seating inside and on a downstairs terrace and the food is well worth a visit without breaking the bank. They also have a complimentary minibus service from some local villages like Brela and Baska Voda.

This Konoba (tavern) in Brela is great! It's up on a hill from the Adriatic sea and you can call the restaurant to send a car to get you since it's a steep climb. Get a table on the terrace which has views of the sunset over the sea. You'll also see the island of Brac and the northern Croatia coastline. The Konoba itself is built in the 1600s of grey stone and as you sit on the terrace and look around at the walls of the building you'll feel as if you've been transported back in time. This can be a very romantic place (depending on who you're with ). We ate here twice during our stay in Brela and the food was excellent to very good. The calamari grilled is outstanding- tender and succulent, the octopus is prepared ceviche style with very thin strips of octopus with a little dressing (oil, garlic and something else) served cold. The mixed platter was a generous portion of grilled chicken, beef, pork however, my sweetie likes his beef rare and this was on the well done side. You can actually get vegetables on the side (difficult since the diet in Croatia is meat heavy). The house red wine was perfectly acceptable and the 'palatschinka' or crepe stuffed with ground walnuts was very good as a dessert. The chocolate crepe not so good if you like quality 70% dark chocolate. The 2nd night, I had the chicken schnitzel- large portion with grilled eggplant, zucchini on the side with some pretty great fries. Others had the fish filet which was very good. The fish is fresh from the region. The service was very good. The waiters speak several languages and there was a slight difficulty with a younger waiter who didn't have the full vocabulary to describe some of the contents of the menu items.

We were picked up from the Church near Abuala's Beach house - eventually as they had to be called and were 30 minutes late.
We had pre ordered the traditional 'Pekker' (excuse spelling)
When we arrived we were shown a table with a stunning view, served drinks and then the meal arrived immediately.
To be honest it was simply 'meat' and potatoes and was fairly ordinary - and very expensive for what it was.
We didn't get to see the menu so can't comment on that.
It was the night of the Croatia match in Euro 2012 so we waited until after the game for our lift, which was not a problem.
Possibly not the ideal night to go but it was suggested and booked for us.
I was our last night in Croatia and sadly the wrong choice.
