Mirembe Resort Beach

This is a very nice place for this particular island. The food takes literally hours so order in advance and even then you will have to wait. Staff are very kind and helpful. It is an excellent location - really beautiful little haven to relax and unwind.

We escaped to Mirembe from Banda Island (don't go there if you want to listen to a lot of racist/homophobic/misogynist remarks and/or sleep in a room with bats!) and as we were some of the only guests midweek we got a good deal on our room, which was one of the cottages. No hot water (although they said there was, so maybe there was something wrong with it!) and the lights are quite dim because they are generator-powered but it was clean, spacious and comfortable.

Service was attentive and although the restaurant had very limited options the food was pretty good although it could get repetitive if you stayed here for a while. Also, this is a totally unreasonable comment, but it's too bad the sun sets on the other side of the island! However, it was still stunning at that time of day (see photos).

Overall, I kind of loved it. It's not at all luxurious but I liked its simple comforts, the very beautiful beach and the feeling of being properly away from it all.

We went to the Islands for a side trip during a holiday in Uganda for a family wedding. The choice of food was limited in spite of the menu but when it came it was well cooked. The room overlooked the lake and was confortable but be warned there is no power at night so you will need to take a torch. I liked to swim in the lake but the bottom is uneven. Had to teach the locals what every child learns but never forgets about the art of playing on a swing.

Very peaceful place. Nice bungalows and standard rooms are basic but ok, with cold running water. Although there is no electricity on the whole island, you hardly notice this in the resort, because the generator was always on in the evening until early morning.
The locating is very beautiful, direct at a nice quiet beach and you can enjoy the great sunset direct from your room.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and they did everything to please the guests. My first night there were some other guests, but the other nights I was the only guest, which made it a little too quiet. Food was nice and I could choose whatever I liked.
The price was a little high compare to the other places on this island, but still reasonable.
