We loved staying at Holland Park; the grounds are beautiful and the private cottages are charming and comfortable. As we were just tourists it was fun to meet other characterful guests at the pool, who tended to be expats coming up from Kampala for a mini-break.

Stayed here from friday to sunday. The management set up a driver to pick us up from our hotel in Kampala on the friday for a reasonable price. The driver (local, not employed by HP) drowe us safely to this beautiful place after waiting for us to do our food shopping and we had a good chat about the area on the way.

At arrival the owner/manager greeted us and showed us our chalet. The place is self contained with all that you need. Microwave owen, gas hob, toaster, coffe press and all other kitchen stuff you would need. From the terrace overlooking the nile you could se monkeys jumping around in the trees and tons of birds to watch.

Holland park also have a good size pool in the separate lounge building. The pool is clean and the lounge really cozy. With only four units on site you really feel that you can have a really nice and private getaway.

When leaving the owner/manager arranged a boat to pick us up and take us over to the other side of the nile where it is a lot of activities to do.

I hope that i can get back here soon and can gladly recommend anyone to stay here for a quiet, peaceful and beautiful time.

You CAN find a beautiful, secluded and private cottage, just go here. Amazing views of the white nile, unequalled sunrise over the hills, manicured gardens and clean pool. Everything works and is clean, a first for us in Africa. Niletrips available (fishing or cruising). A perfect place to get away for a few days. Or more...
It looks like Africa but feels like Europe.

Self catering doesn't always mean relaxing, but at Holland Park it really does. Everything you could think of is taken care of! Monique and Wim make you feel completely at home, always helpful and lots of privacy!! This is my favourite weekend retreat from the chaos of Kampala, and always come back from even one night here feeling refreshed! Great showers and well stocked cottages, as well as great views and pool. Highly recommended.

..it really does come with everything. This place is easily the nicest self-catering guest house I've been to in Africa. I didn't believe the owners when they told me that the kitchen was fully equipped, so I brought a bunch of stuff (wisk, sharp knife, tongs for the barbecue, grater). But, actually, the kitchen had all of these things and more...lots of pots and pans, can opener, bottle opener...everything you could possibly need, and quite good quality. Additionally, the owners - who are extremely nice - welcomed us to drop by their house and borrow something, if we should find that we needed something specific and it wasn't there. As it was, we found the kitchen more than well-stocked.

Likewise, the bathroom had towels - big fluffy ones - and face clothes. These weren't your usual threadbare, sun-dried stiff, postage stamp-sized, African guest-house towels. They were proper beach towels that absorbed water. There was a brilliant hammock. There was electricity the whole time. The pool house had free wifi. The bungalows are charming and clean. It was brilliant.

We spent two nights with our three kids...and they could just run around the grounds, jump in the pool, play with the big dogs, or come back and hang out. No worries. Very child friendly. VERY relaxing. Best value for money in Jinja. You just need to be completely self-sufficient in food and non-water-related drinks.

I put 4 out of 5 for sleep b/c we were there on a Saturday night and the neighbors (...one of the only neighbors, as far as I could tell...because Holland Park is set quite peacefully in a rural area among farms) put their music on really really loudly. It was more of a problem on the upper floor of the bungalow. On the lower floor, the stone walls muted the sound a bit. But, to be honest, I'm not sure what the owners could have done about this problem. This happens to us at home in Kampala all the time, so I see it kind of as an unpleasant "Uganda thing" (i.e. the tendency to turn on bad Congolese music really really loudly at 2am) and something beyond the control of the owners.

In short: I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone. It is an incredibly beautiful, relaxing, family-friendly, easy-going, good-value-for-money weekend retreat.
