We very much enjoyed this hotel and Lake Placid. The rooms are nice, we did not have a view room or a fireplace. However, the views from the Lobby/Bar Area can't be beat. Just fantastic.
The Hotel Staff we came into contact with could not have been better. The front desk staff made our dinner reservations for us and arranged transportation via the hotel shuttle.

My husband and I are from NYC. We stayed at Crowne Plaza for 3 nights for our anniversary. Originally, we rvsp'd a King with fireplace, upon our arrival we were upgraded to a King Suite with fireplace, Jacuzzi, and balcony overlooking the mountains. What a wonderful room! We were very pleased with the free upgrade, and the customer service. We had the buffet breakfast in the hotel one morning, which was good. We also spent time in the Grand Room with the big stone fireplace. This room is great!! This hotel has one of the best views of Mirror Lake from the Grand Room. There is a bar in the Grand Room and tables, as well as big sunken comfy sofas. You can enjoy a cocktail in front of the attractive fireplace or by the window overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake (we did both). The hotel is on a hill overlooking the lake. It is conveniently located to the shops in town. You can easily walk to the shops. We bought a bottle of wine with us; however, we forgot the wine glasses and a bottle opener. The bartender was nice enough to give us 2 wine glasses and a bottle opener. We returned them after our use. The hotel staff was very nice and they met all our needs. This hotel is a good quality hotel and reasonable for the price compared to the other hotels in the area.

The great room has a cozy fireplace, a good place to curl up in a big chair and socialize with other people if you want to.
The hotel itself definitely shows the wear and tear of its age. The staff is indifferent. Any king of adjustment or need they will charge you through the nose for. It's pretty obvious that this was once a Holiday Inn even though they charge higher prices.

Beautiful views and close to town (just down the hill). Above average place to stay, but not top of the line. Stayed here with a hockey team on a package deal, so can't comment on the prices. Restaurant served a good buffet style breakfast and a dinner that was average. Thought the staff were very good at there jobs and would stay here again if in town.

This Hotel has one of the best veiws I have ever seen. The rooms are of very good size but the hotel itself is a little hard to navigate. The dinning is good but very overpriced. If you want some decent dinning for a more reasonable price just walk down town

We had a pleasant stay, the views even from "non view" rooms are beautiful because it's so hard to find an unbeautiful view anywhere from this location.

The man at the desk who checked us in had a really unpleasant attitude from word one and a tone that expressed irritation with us, his job, or both for no apparent reason. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

Our room was very clean (my most critical criterion for any stay) and housekeeping did a great job during our stay. This alone merits a trip back in my book. The bedding was nice, but the mattress felt hard and very uncomfortable to me, and I had trouble sleeping on it.

The great room, its terrace and its amazing views of the mountains should be a huge asset of the Crowne Plaza, it could be a more wonderful place to hang out. Sadly, each time we entered, there were empty tables covered with takeout litter from previous guests and they remained so as long as we were in the room, uncleaned. One evening there were busing trays left out in the room so guests could clean off our own tables to sit at, the next night, not even those were present.

The lack of cleared tables is understandable once you notice that there is no one working the large room but the lone bartender. The litter was from takeout because no bar food is offered or served here, and all requests for it are met with instruction to head off to the hotel's restaurant instead.

Many guests we conversed with expressed dismay with the condition/cleanliness of the great room and the lack of service. Upholstery there also needs a good cleaning, smudgy as it is. If this room were cleaner and served bar food, this hotel would be about perfect for our needs.
