“Decent, more like a Holiday Inn”
Reviewed July 23, 2009

Spent the July 1-4th Canadian-US break. Reception was cold, they wanted to upgrade us to a lakeview room, despite the deal we got on Priceline, we refused and were directed to our room which we had trouble locating but finally did. The room was nice, parts of it redone lately, except for the Zenith big tube TV, circa 1995. The room was clean although I zapped two earwigs during the four days. We golfed at the Lake Placid Club three times and got the 20% discount, however we had asked before checking in and was told there were no discounts.

Minor annoyances: Free US Today delivered to your door, but not mine because you have to be a Priority Club member, how much is a newspaper anyway? Worlds worst in room coffee, and no coffee in the lobby like the Marriott's have. There is 'secret' coffee coupons available in the morning at the desk to use at Mackenzie's restaurant. You need to know about them as they are not mentioned at check-in.
The Veranda restaurant is decent, there is better in Lake Placid, but that view is beautiful.

All in all a good spot with a location that cannot be beat. The Marriott Courtyard which is in a similar price range is newer and nicer but not convenient to Main Street.

The hotel is beautifully situated high on the hill-side next to mirror lake, overlooking the lake and Whiteface Mountain. The Lounge of the hotel is fantastic, has great armchairs and sofa's and large windows overlooking the lake and mountains. Recommend taking a drink in the lounge. Rooms are large and well-equipped. There is an indoor pool, jacuzzi and fitness room (but hiking in the wilderness of the Adirondacs is of course much better exercise).

Beautiful hotel! The new Adirondack wing is the best! Gorgeous rooms! Long walk coming back up the hill but you can't beat the view. Great soak in the in room jacuzzi.

Skip the marriott, too far out. You'll want to drive into town if you stay there. Went to lake george it is just a bonfide hampton beach. You are better off at Placid.

The views from the the lobby and lake facing rooms are pretty spectacular. The daily breakfast buffet is very impressive and a good value for the price. The rooms are average, but priced accordingly. The only complaints: if you're looking for peace and quiet or a romatic getaway this is not the place - lots of families with young kids running and yelling up and down the hallways; the fitness center is a joke.

This was our first trip back to the Lake Placid area in about 7 years. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the village and lake and offers a great view from the spacious and comfortable lounge area. Check-in and out was easy, free and reliable wi-fi was provided, and meeting room was spacious/well-equiped for audio/video. Two complaints - restaurant only offers a breakfast buffet (you can order other menu items through room service for a $3 pp fee) and housekeeping didn't finish with our room until midafternoon. Indoor pool only.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July and it was spectacular. The service was exemplary; all staff members were very accomodating. We dealt with the front desk and housekeeping. It was very clean and spacious. The pool was a great temperature and they had a nice seating area for parents or those who weren't swimming to watch. The scenery is incredible and we very much enjoyed looking out at the mountains. The grounds and landscaping were fantastic and a step above the rest.

Third year in a row visiting the Crown Plaza. Service overall was very good and course was in good shape this year (though a lot of rain.. boo). The real stand out on the trip was Joe at the lobby bar. Very professional, made me the best manhattan ever, even made our reservations at Veranda for us. He really went out of his way for the whole group. Lucky us and lucky hotel for having him.
