The hotel is located on top of a small hill overlooking the lake. It is an easy walk also to main street to restaurants and shops. Free parking on-site, which makes it handy. The lodge is spacious away from busy roads. The beds were comfy but the bedroom suite is not very well appointed by its shape. The two bedrooms are separated by the bathroom and a narrow darkish hallway, but only one bedroom has a window. For the others that are not by the window, it feels rather austere during the day time without natural light. There is also a noisy furnace shaft that runs in the room. We visited a couple of rooms and they appear to be laid out the same way. Each room has its own flat screen tv. We had breakfast coupons so we did not do the buffet. The portion of fruit platter was amazingly large, enough for 2 people. The lounge by the main lobby is very pleasant for enjoying the scenery.

Thank you for your review and giving us the opportunity to learn from your feedback. We really appreciate our guest’s opinions because it helps us grow further into the upscale brand that the Crowne Plaza represents. First of all I’m glad you enjoyed our views from up on the hill, they truly are breathtaking. Second, I will definitely be sure to pass along your recommendation about the room type you were in to higher management. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you back again soon!

Plaza stay at the Crown Plaza .Stayed in the Adirondack wing newer rooms. I was a little concerned at first being on the first floor close to the entrance , but no problem , never heard people coming or going and the hotel was sold out due to a conference. Enjoyable stay. Ask for a room facing the lake that was the only problem room was facing the parking lot but if the weather was nicer I would have loved to enjoy the patio

Room Tip: stay in the Adirondack wing if possible facing the lake

We stayed at this hotel last weekend for a hockey tournament. As crazy as it was everything was top notch from check in to check out. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and all the food included with our package was delicious! The moms had a couple hours to ourselves and we walked around town and then back to the lodge for a drink. You can't beat this location especially with the Olympic hockey rink next door and the shops and restaurants out the front door. Can't wait to come back for a non- hockey trip!

Travelling with friends, I had booked basic accommodation online. On arrival, we were able to upgrade for very little extra cost, to luxurious accommodation. The rooms were spacious, clean and the view from the balcony was magnificent. A glorious view across the lake.
Grounds are lovely and the property is close to shops. (Bit of a hike up the hill if you enjoy shopping!)
Staff were friendly, restaurants and bar were very reasonable. Internet worked in most parts of the rooms. Excellent value for money, especially if you are doing a lot of driving and need a break.

Room Tip: Choose lake view- ask for upgrades on arrival.

Prior to this trip we had been to Lake Placid several times, but never in the summer. Our usual hotel was booked for the weekend, so I suggested to try "that hotel on the hill" - the Crowne Plaza. The location is great - it is up on a hill with a great view of the mountains or of Mirror Lake depending on room location. There was ample parking, and all of the restaurants in town were only a short walk away. The room we stayed in was clean and the in-room coffee pod machine was great. In addition, because we were IHG members we were given coupons for a free breakfast in their restaurant. All in all, it was a great relaxing stay.

Beautiful Hotel! Perfect location! Great person checked us in. This is probably the best place to stay in lake placid because its in the heart of it all. The view is wonderful, the hotel has a very elegant décor and flare to it. Rooms are beautiful, we had a fireplace and little terrace with a Jacuzzi tub. With all these great amenities why was it a smelly nightmare?
The minute we walked into our room it smelled so bad like a dirty dog! This is a pet friendly hotel and at some point a dog left his permanent mark in that room. This is becoming a big problem in these pet friendly hotels. We had this issue before in a holiday inn. Maybe if your a dog owner the room would have smelled fine but for us it was horrible. The rugs, curtains and everything needs a good cleaning. The room was immaculate don't get me wrong it was clean just smelled. We tried everything, we got some industrial strength odor killer from housekeeping, worked only a little. I didn't enjoy my stay because of the room smell. Now the nightmare. A hockey team invades and takes over this hotel for months on end. We waited on line for almost 30 mins with kids and beer touting adults. Those people should have their own check in line. The hotel was great in keeping them away from other guests none of them stayed in our wing thank GOODNESS! The thing is we couldn't use the pool because the kids took over that, they ran around the hotel playing shoot em up, one kid played dead because he got shot, another kid kicked him to make sure he was dead, quite funny kids being kids but I didn't come to a nice hotel for that. Came for some R&R and didn't get it. Call the hotel and ask if this group is there before you go. I hear they are there every week till May. Lastly, the breakfast was terrible. The blueberry pancakes were heavy, very sweet, hard and dry. They tasted like cookies. Potatoes dry as a bone as well. Poor quality breakfast for such a nice hotel. I would love to go back but only if they have a non pet room, when that hockey league is not there, and I'd get my own breakfast. Didn't eat at hotel for dinner because of all those people there. Hotel did a good job trying to keep them separate from the guests, they ate in a separate room for breakfast, and they were in a separate wing. They can't control the pool and overall loud rowdiness of the kids. Overall a nice hotel marred with a rowdy group, long check in lines, and a not so friendly smelly pet room.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property. First off, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed our views, convenient location, and décor! Secondly, in regards to the smell of dog, we do try our hardest to remove the smell from the rooms. We understand that some people do not want to be in a room that a dog has been in prior. We would like you to know that we do keep track of the rooms that have dogs stay in them so that if a guest requests a non pet room we can quickly locate one. So please don’t be afraid to ask us next time, we would be more than happy to accommodate your requests. Finally, as to Canam hockey, we try our best to make sure people aware at the time of booking that they will be present in the hotel. However, it becomes difficult when people book through third party sites. The best way to find out about certain events being held at the property is to call us directly at 518-523-2556. We look forward to you staying with us again soon!

Beautiful place. Fantastic views. Super clean. Friendly staff.
Hockey teams are annoying little beasts, but that is no fault of the hotel...they are doing everything that they can to keep the little monsters in check (unlike their parents/coaches). And on the upside...the little beasts got us an automatic upgrade to the Adirondack wing!
