Stayed here for a hockey tournament. The location is great. Located right next door to the Olympic rink but has a killer driveway to walk up. However, we just simply drove the kids to the bottom of the hill and dropped them off with their hockey bags and then parked in the municipal parking lot next door. Can walk to the shops and local restaurants which are very good. The lobby is very nice. The bar area has a great sitting area with plenty of couches, chairs and tables. Beautiful views. We had the buffet for the breakfast and dinner and overall the food was very good. Our guestrooms were spacious, beds comfortable, and I would highly recommend staying here. Pool and the sitting area is huge! Plenty of room for a whole hockey team plus some to swim. Large sitting area for people to hang out. Very nice and the acoustics were great. Very good!

We went for a Ski Vacation for three days in February. Cindy the Front Desk host was very welcoming and did a great job to get us a very early check-in and accomodated our special requests. The Great Room is fabulous and overlooks the village and the lake. You can see the Dog Sled routes from the large to the ceiling windows. We took board games and books and people just enjoyed the fireplaces and the big comfy couches and the over sized tables for family games. It has a nice large pool and Hot tub but it was quite busy most of the time. My one suggestion is to have an Adult Swim Hour from 9:30-10:30 at night and perhaps early in the morning too. Their breakfast buffet is terrific and well priced. Perfectly situated in the village. Walked to everything. 20 min drive to WhiteFace.

Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We paid $20 more and recieved Queen Beds with a Lake view-- well worth it. Rooms have fridge and mi...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in February. The hotel is built on a steep hill and has wonderful views. Downtown Main Street is very close by and about a 10 minute walk to the starting point.
The hotel lobby/great room bar has a spectacular mountain and lake view. There are a couple of fireplaces in the lobby where people can sit on leather sofas and chit chat. The hotel interior is wooden and very ski lodge like.
The rooms are very comfortable and the staff provide excellent service. Our room even had an electrical fireplace in it.
We asked for a quieter room towards the back of the hotel in the Adirondack wing. We drove around the back and parked our car to spare us the long walk through the hotel to our room every time we parked our car. i will surely stay here again i am in LP.

Stayed on a very busy weekend- so rooms in Lake Placid were hard to find. We paid top dollar for our three nights and I expected more. The rooms are dated. We needed extra blankets and pillows - none available in room. All Beds just had a sheet and thin bedspread. The room we were given looked out on the pool area and reeked of chlorine. We were able to move to another room the next morning without a problem. Walls are thin and there was a lot of noise in nearby rooms and the halls, luckily it quieted down at a reasonable hour.
Parking was also very limited. In the evening it was almost impossible to find a spot.
On the plus side the views are fantastic and the staff was helpful.

My husband and traveled to Lake Placid over the President's Day Weekend. Our room was on the first floor close to the pool and was extremely noisy in the morning. The room was large for two people with a sofa and a small table and chairs but it was drafty and chilly. I had to wear my robe and socks with my slippers to be comfortable even with the heat set at 70 degrees. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to town and the hotel provided a shuttle to it's Boathouse Resturant which was across the lake. Dinner at the Boathouse was delicious and reasonably priced with excellent service. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. I booked this trip on the internet but I think if I had booked through the hotel I may have been able to get a room more suited for a couples trip in a quieter location. Although my stay was marred with a few issues I would give the hotel another try because of it's location.

Room Tip: Book through the hotel and let them know what kind of trip it is. If you are a family with children...

We were looking forward to a stay here in February, but ran into some unfortunate circumstances. In dealing with hotel management, we were very happy. Their customer service was wonderful, understanding, and they were willing to work with us. There are many places to spend your money, but it is always nice to spend it at places that appreciate their customers. We look forward to staying here in the future.

The ratings don't let you go for 3.5, but I would rate this hotel above average but not quite very good. We have been visiting the area for the past four years with a large group, so we get a very good deal, with breakfast and dinner included. The staff is wonderful and the food is consistently good, which is why I would rate it above average. The rooms are fine, that's where the average comes in. We stayed on the first floor this time, and the room was pretty cold--it was frigid outside. The molded shower/tub has very few places to put soap/shampoo/conditioner, etc. Everything ended up inside the tub during every shower.

Thank you for your review and your continued loyalty. Thank you for your positive comments on our staff and our food. We are in the final stages of replacing all of the molded shower / tub units in the hotel and should have all of them replaced in the spring. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
