“Celebrated our Anniversary”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay this past weekend at the Placid Bay as we celebrated our Anniversary...It was on the quiet side of town which we wanted and if we wanted to go into town the trolley stop was right across the road...We enjoyed the view of the bay while relaxing with a glass of wine in the Adirondack chairs..We were greeted by the local family of friendly ducks..The room was spotless and the view of the bay and Lake Placid was nice...We toured the Olympic Museum, went to the Goose Watch Wine tasting, and dined at the local restaurants in town..The Steakhouse Restaurant was to die for...a little pricey but it was a special occasion and the meal and service was fantastic..we enjoyed walking and visiting the local shops.
It was my husbands first trip to the Adirondacks and he loved it...if you go, you have to visit the summit at Whiteface, the view is phenomenal..a short ride away...
Lastly, the check in was smooth and the staff very friendly and accommodating...we look forward to going back someday.

My husband and I wanted just a little "get away" with out the kids. Placid Bay Inn was just the place. Although it was a very small room, it was cleaner than most "5 star" rated places. Everything was brand new. It was very close to town and the lake was nice to canoe on. Every morning we walked right up the road to "Cuppa Joes" and had coffee which was a great little place as well. I would suggest this place to couples. The only down fall was they were repaving the road and had a detour. This Inn is right on the main road - with a lot of traffic.

The inn is clean and in good shape, the location is on a main road, nevertheless quiet enough to sleep well. Nice view of Lake Placid, walking distance to Mirror Lake and Main Street Lake Placid. We only stayed there for one night on our way from Canada to Nex York City but I would definitely come here again

We had a week long Vermont biking trip cancelled and rather than waste the 8 hours of travel we winged a vacation through Vermont and NY. We landed in Lake Placid at the Placid Bay Inn because of Trip Advisor recommendations. The Inn is more of a Hotel than an Inn and not our normal "digs" when traveling. That being said, the Placid Bay Inn far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in room #5 and it was large, modern and exceptionally clean. The grounds were beautiful with nice sitting areas and gardens. You can see that the family that owns the Inn put their heart and soul into this property. Unfortunately while we were there traffic was being detoured by the Inn so trucks were going by the Inn during the day. The traffic died at night so it was not an issue for sleeping. I have already recommended the Inn to family and would not hesitate to recommed it to any traveler.

Room Tip: Room #5 overlooking the lake was excellent. Large closet.

To keep it simple, I hated to leave. I miss the early morning mists that hung over the water. Too few days to linger at the shore and watch the first ripples of activity of the day, glorious mountains as the backdrop. I miss getting out on a canoe whenever I pleased and feeling the lake breezes.

By now, you get it. The Placid Bay Inn has a wonderful lakeside location. Not only that, but my wife and I seldom needed our car. But for the trail heads, we hoofed it everywhere this past week. Now, if hills are a problem, the moderate but short climb to and from town is not for you. You can instead opt for the two minute ride. But, as I said, we were able to access many restaurants, shops and local activities without driving.

The Inn itself is very clean and lovingly tended. Our efficiency was spotless and of a good size. The proprietors were very patient and helpful. All in all we felt like we got great vacation value.

We stayed in the Country Cottage at Placid Bay Inn from August 5th to 12th 2012, and we were very pleased with our accomodation. The unit was spotless, provided everything we needed in the kitchen for a few home cooked meals, and the view was spectacular. Early mornings on a quiet dock in front of our cottage were very relaxing. The owners were most helpful and always available for local information, or just a pleasant chat. The beds were comfortable, and there were fans in every room because that particular cottage is not air-conditioned. The breeze from the lake was often sufficient at night to cool the upstairs rooms down. All in all, a lovely experience. We would definitely stay at Placid Bay Inn again, and would recommend it to our friends.

My wife & I just got back from a weekend trip in Lake Placid. We stayed at Placid Bay Inn based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. We thought the location was really convenient & fact that it's on the lake is nice. The only complaint we have is the room had a musty smell. The room was clean but I think they need to get rid of the 70's carpet!

Thank you for taking the time to do a review. I'm sorry if the room smelled a little "musty". We had a lot of rain last week, and with the warm days and air-conditioning be on all the time the room could get a little stuffy. We usually try to make a point of checking all rooms prior to new guests checking in to make sure everything is clean and fresh smelling.
I'm sorry, I do not understand the comment about the "70's" carpet. All of our carpet is an expensive cut-pile that is no more then 2 years old. I sincerely hope you enjoyed your stay in Lake Placid.
