I first came here 32 years ago as a bachelor skier and not only fell in love with the Mirror Lake Inn but Lake Placid itself. Unquestionably the best apres ski town in the U.S. As for the inn, it is one of the most beautiful and charming places to stay of any mountain resort area. Excellent service, lovely rooms and wonderful restaurants. A year after I came here (I was 32 at the time) I came back with a friend and we fell in love here and was married 6 months later. My wife and I continue to not only come back to Placid but to this wonderful Inn as well. Last night, once again we were at the inn for a charity event, and it's magic never wears thin. Tonight we'll be meeting friends at The Cottage which is one of the coolest places to hang out on Mirror Lake with the locals. Here the inn has created an atmosphere of congeniality and beauty right on the lake with. Come here any season and you'll love it.

What a lovely place to stay. The rooms are so pretty and the view of the lake is so relaxing. There are so many places to shop and eat out at. The Cottage is one of our favorites!!!
The fireplace ia warm and cozy to sit by whle you drink your tea and eat chocolate chip cookies.
We love it here and will be back soon!!

Room Tip: A room looking out at the lake is the best!!!

We've been there several times in the last few years. Considering the quality of the services and of the equipment in the rooms, it is worth every dollar. Front desk is efficient though a bit unpersonnal - we forget it- . Cookies, available on check-in, are a classic. Rooms are perfecly maintained, most have great views of Mirror lake. The View restaurant is great. Service is consistant, professional, even done by a mix of seasoned servers and teens.Dinner there is a real relaxing pleasure. The menu has a large choice of options and the wine list is impressive. The hall decoration is so warm with woods, books, fire place etc...We feel at home there. We've always been surprised not to meet more Quebec people at Mirror Lake Inn.On the other hand, it is great to know a secret gem...
If trekking is your goal, dozens of trails are nearby. If we were to get marry, we would do it there....

I spent two wonderful nights at this hotel at Mirror Lake and it was really great. The room was beautiful, and very nicely decorated in dark greens and browns It was overlooking the pool (which was not in use since it was Nov. ) with views of the gorgeous mountains. Beautiful bathroom too!! Even though the town was quiet at this time of year, it was beautiful and the staff at the hotel was very accommodating. Great location, within walking distance of town and all shops, but just away enough to be peaceful. I would definitely stay again.

Wife and I went for a getaway weekend without the babies. We have been going to Lake Placid for several years but this was the first time we have stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn.

We were given a room in the Terrace building. Very nice sized, well appointed room.
Views of the lake and the mountains were absolutely magnificent.

Nice linens, but poor shower water pressure. I recognize that you don't go to a place like this to watch TV -- but when was the last time you have seen a tube?? Flat screen with on-demand movies should be standard.

Inn purports to be child friendly, but list of rules seems to make it a better choice for older kids.

Interior of the Terrace hallways can use a sprucing up - bit of a dorm feel.
Other hallways and the lobby have a lot of rustic character, with a number of interesting sitting areas.

Staff is superbly professional and competent. We were lucky enough to have the same server for all meals (Everett) who greeted us by name by the second day. One of the best features is the ability to eat at the View, Bistro, and Cottage, with great ease. The great dining options support the resort atmosphere.

You certainly pay for the privilege, but no doubt this is the best option in the town of Lake Placid.

Thank you for being our guest! We’re glad that you were able to get away and enjoy a weekend without the children! We love children and consider Mirror Lake Inn to be a family friendly resort. The policy reminders are just that, reminders for those who sometimes forget that everyone deserves to enjoy their Mirror Lake Inn experience whether with or without children. Thank you for referring to us as the best option in Lake Placid! We look forward to your return!
