We asked for an earlier reservation, but were asked to push the time back because they had another event on. That should have warned us that they would be extra busy and as a result we did not have attentive service. The food was excellent and the restaurant has a beautiful setting. I am sure reading other reviews that our experience was not typical, but it didn't quite match what we expected after reading reviews. We would still go back again and hope that the next visit was a better experience.
Another issue we had was with the ladies toilet. It was out of order and there was only the one. When I mentioned it to our waiter he went rushing off, but never returned with an alternate arrangement!

This is a lovely little inn, just off the beaten path of the main road in Lake Placid (read, no lake view). When we arrived they were crowded and noisy with a party, which was fine...Saturday night. But by the next morning we were essentially the only guests. We came down for breakfast (which we thought was included but found out the last day, was $12 a person! They were made to order but not anything special.) We were there for three nights and since we were the only people in the Inn (not even the proprietors were there all day Sunday) they didn't air condition any of the house during a very humid time in late June. So, we would trek up the hill from town (steep, so if you have a hard time walking, be warned) and just run up to our room for the cool air. The lobby is lovely but so uncomfortable that we couldn't use it!
This place is sweet, as I said, but has clearly had better days. Our room needed some sprucing up...paint on the ceiling was peeling, worn furniture. And the amenities were inconsistant. For instance, they provided great robes to cozy up in, and Frette towels, but super thin, cheap toilet paper. Huh?
It seems like things just have fallen through the cracks here. It could be really great again, but this Inn is resting on its laurels. With a facelift inside and out and some TLC for the guests, they would be right back in business as a great Inn. I hope this review is seen by the owners as we wish them luck. (We left and spent our last night in Lake Placid at Mirror Lake Inn)

We keep coming back to the Interlaken for dinner and or drinks. They have a very nice dining room but we have never eaten there preferring the bar/lounge. The bar requires reservations as people eat at the small copper bar. The food is outstanding and the drinks are excellent. The service is also excellent. It is a winner every time.

We hope to stay in the inn on our next visit but this year it was not available for all three dates we requested.

While asking a local for dinner reco's he mentioned the Interlaken Inn. My husband and I walked to the inn and were able to get a table in the pub with no reservations. (how fortunate!) The food was incredible, beyond delicious! The salad; locally grown arugula with blue cheese, fresh figs, cherries and rhubard vinegarette was delightful. I had the fish tacos which were very flavorful! Hubs had a tender filet which he proclaimed, "one of the top 5 steaks he has ever tasted in his 63 years!" Great wine list and a unforgettable piece of cheesecake with blueberry sauce for dessert! The next time we visit Lake Placid we will be staying at the Interlaken!

Our evening started out in the bar where we met Krista and Mark who couldn't have been more gracious and kind. Unfortunately when we were seated we encountered the rudest waiter I have ever had. There was a private party occupying the whole dining room and I believe he was miffed that he had to take care of us (on the porch) and work the party too. Anyway, the food was outstanding and we didn't let rude David ruin our evening. I do think the management should wise up and get rid of a guy that could potentially harm their business.
