Stayed here for a long weekend. Amazing! Helpful staff. Tasty drinks. Great decor. The gym is really really nice. And the bowling alley is so fun. Will definitely stay here again. Can't wait to go back there again.

We recently stayed at the Whiteface Lodge for a long weekend. The hotel is very unique. You actually feel that you are staying in an old ski lodge with all of the bells and whistles including raccoon, bear, and moose in strategic locations throughout the lodge. We stayed in a suite which was very beautifully decorated with a patio mere steps away from the pool and outdoor wood fire complete with a basket full of fixings for smoores. The hotel has a really great game room, complete with a bowling alley. The hotel also does an excellent buffet breakfast.
A few downsides. Kanu Restaurant is very over priced, has a very limited menu with medicare food. It was no surprise then that there were very few people there for dinner at 8pm when we arrived. The more casual Kanu Lodge a few steps away, has a great atmosphere and not only serves its own menu but also the menu from the Kanu restaurant which begs he question-why have two restaurants serving the same food. Whiteface Lodge is a family place. Lots of kids of all ages from toddlers to teens, grandmas and grandpas. The hotel would be wise to ditch the high end menu restaurant and do something completely different, family friendly and good! The Spa presented a bit of the challenge. The hotel touts itself as a resort and spa but on a weekend it was impossible to get an appointment for a simple manicure. The pool was disappointing. Although the idea of a pool half inside/half outside is awesome, the pool is very small. When it is filled, you can not swim in it as it becomes very congested. The issues I have pointed out are fixable and if they are fixed, Whiteface Lodge would be an awesome place to stay.

Whiteface Lodge is a big, beautifully constructed resort that looks like what a National Parks lodge should be. Suites are huge, very clean, and nicely appointed with full kitchens, comfortable living rooms, and great porches. The property is really beautiful, but it's hard to capture in a photo what the interior of a suite looks like--they are much brighter and pleasant than they might appear. Food at the Lodge is just OK.

During the summer the lodge will drive guests to its small beach club on Lake Placid which is a beautiful spot for swimming or taking out one of many boats. A relaxing and wonderful Adirondack experience.

That said, we did not sleep well at the Lodge. Not at all. We can't quite pin down the cause in what seems to be such a comfortable place.

Staff are wonderful. Valet staff in particular, along with the shuttle driver to the beach club, were outstanding.

Room Tip: You can really provision yourself because your kitchen is so fully equipped.

Whiteface Lodge genuinely exceeded all my expectations. The layout of the lodge, the exquisite service, the amenities all wrapped up to an extraordinary stay. I found the staff to be professional and helpful, going that extra mile. Let's not forget we had 3 drama queen tween girls, yet the staff remained courteous throughout our stay.
The amenities were abundant; chocolate chip cookies, s'mores, movies, games, the indoor-outdoor pool - which wasn't huge albeit configured wisely. It just worked. The restaurant was comfortable with an abundant breakfast buffet. The rooms are clean, clean, clean. The heated floor in the bathroom was a nice added touch.
There is a shuttle to take you to their private beach. The summer hosts a kids' club. The grounds are lovely to walk. DVDs for the kids.
This lodge has quite the rustic feel to it with many coves for sitting in comfortable chairs.
A memory not to be forgotten.

Room Tip: The restaurant is on the second floor. It is not noisy. The girls really enjoyed going to breakfas...

Been visiting the Lodge since it's opening... it's always been a complete pleasure for the family. From when the kids were toddlers to today, pre-teens. The staff is very pleasant and professional. The lakeside offsite-property allows any guest to enjoy all sorts of water activities. We have thoroughly enjoyed our visits whether in summer or winter. The hotel itself has been built with passion and it shows in the details everywhere. There has been a few years following financial problems when we wondered where everything was going but in the last two years, we have been as satisfied as we were at the beginning. Just like anywhere else, bring your best smile and you will be treated with human warmth.

Room Tip: There is more light coming in throughout the day when your room is located on the inner part of the...

Whiteface Lodge is one of the most stunningly beautiful properties ever. So why did I give it a four rather than a five star review? Senior management does not focus on the customer experience--and with just a little effort this place could be fantastic. Don't get me wrong-the staff are pleasant and friendly-as long as you stick to their script. Simple requests, such as for hypo-allergenic bedding and repeated calls from the road for a one hour early check-in were muffed. Ditto for a broken kitchen faucet that sprayed water in my face and a 15-month toddler allowed to be in the jacuzzi!! That aside, the rooms are spectacular if you love the Adirondack look-pine bark, pine cones, and outdoorsy stuff. The spa, movie theater, and indoor/outdoor pool are lovely, as is the private beach. Two places not to miss-Paradox Lodge for an incredible meal and the Wild Center for a wonderful environmental education experience.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the pond.
