“Great Breakfast!”
Reviewed October 20, 2008

My boyfriend and I decided to drive out to Saranac Sourdough after reading reviews on TripAdvisor, and were glad that we did! It is a charming little restaurant with eclectic antique Adirondack decor, and the food is well worth the trip! We settled on the Challah French Toast and the Corned Beef Hash. The bread used for the french toast was delicious and really made for some wonderful french toast! The corned beef hash was in all honesty the best I've ever tasted and cooked perfectly. I wish we could have stayed longer to try out some of the gourmet sandwiches and salads, which looked terrific. The homemade breads also were very tempting!

“Rudest service in Upper New York State”
Reviewed August 27, 2008

Rudest of any wait people we have encountered. Had heard of how "Great" the food was. This was the only day that we would have to try it out. After encountering a bit of traffic leaving Saranac Lake after kayaking, we arrived 5 minutes before their closing time of 4:00 p.m.. After receiving no greeting from the counter person, we stated that we knew it was just about closing time, and that we would take the food with us and not sit down. After rudely telling us that they were in fact closing in 5 minutes, we meekly gave our order. We should have just walked out! A simple polite statment of Sorry, we are closing would have been better than the extreme rude attitude that we were given. Needless to say, we will never go there again or ever recommend this place.

“We love this place!”
Reviewed July 29, 2008

On our way out of town we stopped here to pick up sandwiches for the road. The breakfast menu looked so yummy we wished we had eaten breakfast here! The tuna was delicious and we cannot wait to come back for more sandwiches! Excellent selection of healthy inventive food!

“Best Sandwiches We've Had in Ages!”
Reviewed July 21, 2008

We stopped here for breakfast in late June while visiting Lake Placid for the first time and had the best challah french toast for breakfast here we've ever had. We then ordered sandwiches for lunch and were equally delighted. The breads are homemade and the selection is huge - something for everyone. We highly recommend this restaurant, which includes a small seating area as well as take-out. Judging by the steady stream of traffic, I would say they are a big local hit (a lot of people seemed to be regulars). Note: They are only open till about 3 or 4 pm - if you want sandwiches for dinner, get takeout in advance.

“Casual, great bread”
Reviewed July 1, 2008

Deserves all the good reviews. We had one lunch and two breakfasts here, and every meal was tasty. I especially loved the potato salad, and of course the breads for sandwiches and toast. DD loved the Adirondack flapjack pancakes.

Keep in mind it's casual and 'rustic,' which just made it more fun for our family.
