“Cook it at home, it's better than at most lake placid restaurants”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

We were not impressed with our restaurant experiences in Lake Placid, so we decided to try this place and finally had a good meal.

Unfortunately we didn't have a proper stove in our motel room, just 2 burners and a microwave. Because of this we missed out on what seemed to be some wonderful meals choices.

We opted for a mushroom sauce as well as cheese raviolis. Both tasted home made and were very good. We also tried a pestachio ice cream dessert with chocolate that was also very good.

Some people will be very satisfied with a jar of rago spaghetti sauce and scoff at paying 3x the price for a home made sauce. But we though it was worth it.

“One Of The Best, If Not THE Best, Eating Options In Town”
Reviewed November 4, 2010

Here's the scenario. You're in Lake Placid, a relatively expensive resort town. You don't want to blow your budget by always eating out, but you're on vacation and want something a lot better than a Stouffers frozen entree and a can of Campbell soup. What to do? Answer: go to Villa Vespa for great home-made food at half the price of a restaurant.

There is a five-star array of Italian food available at Villa Vespa to take home and reheat: pasta, sauces, lasagna, chicken cutlets, meatballs, sausage & onions, soups, garlic bread, salads, and desserts such as tiramisu and cannoli. My wife and I were so impressed with the quality of the food that we ended up buying a total of four nights' worth of meals there (including two that we took with us to our next stop in Vermont) for less than $100 total for both of us. As someone of Italian heritage, I've eaten a lot of lasagna in my life, and Villa Vespa's ranks among the best I've ever had. Likewise, the chicken pot pie puts its mass-produced commercial rivals to shame. All the meals took only a few minutes in the microwave or less than 15 minutes in the oven to reheat.

The women who run Villa Vespa and do the cooking are genuinely friendly and turn out a high quality product. For consistently excellent, delicious, and reasonably priced food in Lake Placid, there may be no better place than Villa Vespa.

“Fresh and frozen homemade pasta and sauces-NOT a restaurant”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

Nice selection of pastas and sauces. great white clam sauce and porcini marinara sauce. This is not a restaurant, but rather you buy your food and take it home to cook. Works great if you want to stay in and are staying at a place with a kitchen. Cooked dinner for 7 adults and 3 children for about $60. The ladies who work there are very helpful and good estimators at how much you will need.

“Great again”
Reviewed August 6, 2010

Been here many times, and the food is always excellent. This is a take out place only. There is no seating. You can call in advance or just pop in. The sauce, pasta, food, and desserts are homemade, no really, homemade. It is like mom is in the kitchen. Great if you are out all day and wife does not want to cook, call and get a pasta, chicken, rib, for fish dish. Great soups and desserts too. Homemade pasta. You will not be dissapointed.

“Good pasta but overpriced”
Reviewed August 6, 2010

Visited Villa Vespa when I was in Lake Placid for the Ironman. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pasta tasted good but I have to say that it was ridiculously expensive, even more so when you consider that they only do take out.
