We recently attended a family party at Nicola's - a special celebration to which most traveled many hours to attend.
First the good parts - I have an unusual food allergy and the staff handled it very professionally. I had contacted the owned in advance to be sure they could adapt to my needs. He suggested a plan for us, and it was executed perfectly. He greeted me at the door that night and introduced me to the head waiter who would take care of everything. That made me feel secure while we ate.
In addition, almost everyone in our group reported that their food was very good.
However, with two different entrees, family members received 25-50% less food than was promised on the menu. The waiters just brushed this off, but after our host double-checked the menu and then spoke with owner it was corrected. But that just shouldn't happen when a menu had been previously selected and approved. And a host of a large party shouldn't have to be checking up on little details to be sure the guests are getting what was promised.
This just left an "icky" feeling about the restaurant. Not sure I'd go there again.
