“Good Breakfast at Delta Blue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Good breakfast at the Northwoods Inn Delta Blue street-level restaurant on the Columbus Day holiday Monday when the Generations Restaurant (across the street at the Golden Arrow Hotel where we were staying) was closed. I had the short-stack (2) blueberry pancakes and my companion the long-stack (4) French toast slices with syrup. The pancakes were light and fluffy with a generous amount of blueberries and the French toast was too much for my companion to finish. A number of people arrived as many other places along Lake Placid’s main street were closed for breakfast and the one server on duty was kept very busy. The room is furnished with solid wood tables and chairs, wood posts and wall panelling. There is a bar, pool table and stone fireplace. If taxidermy bothers you while you eat, a big buck or stag (or whatever you want to call a male deer) is posed on his rear legs with his antlers raised in front of the fireplace. The ceiling is painted to resemble forest twigs. The restaurant also serves as a musical venue in the evenings. Immediately adjacent to Delta Blue’s big windows is their sidewalk patio where food and drink are available at lunch and dinner. But we were just looking for some place to have breakfast and our meal at the Northwoods was so good we will be going back.

“A Real Nice Surprise with Good Music”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

We had gone to Delta Blue one time before for just the music and enjoyed the venue. On this visit, we were able to have some dinner prior to the music starting at 9 PM. This is a "rustic" bar/grill in the Adirondack mountains. The theme is "woodsy" because it is located inside the "Northwoods" Inn. Very casual place and local watering hole on the Main St. of Lake Placid. Both times we have been there the place was packed and the waitresses were on the "run". Under those conditions, the service was okay-they tried to get you your drinks and food in a timely manner. On this visit, I had the TOLO entree salad, which was delicious, but a bit pricey at $13.00. Maybe add a piece of cornbread? My hubby had the Philly Steak Po' Boy and added fries for $2.00. His dinner came to $12.95. His meat was well seasoned and a good portion. The fries were homemade and very good. Wine was $6.00 a glass and soda was $2.50 which included a refill. When the music started at 9 PM and the dinner crowd thinned out, we were able to table hop for a better view of the stage. On our night, we saw a great group who played the blues with excellent guitar work. Dinner and great music for $40.00. What a great date night.

“Not impressed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

Considering this spot was located right in the downtown area of Lake Placid I was surprised to find the food was not very good and the decor was run down and kind of dirty. For all I know this may be a hoppin’ place to go clubbing at night, but to visit at another time was disappointing.
