My wife and I stayed at the stagecoach mid-September. This is hands down the most welcoming B&B we have stayed at. The lodge itself is beautifully decorated, the breakfast is fantastic and enormous and the wine and cheese in the evening is both pleasant and appreciated after a long hike. The owners make the lodge very special Mary Pat and Tony are so welcoming and pleasant to chat with- that it feels more like visiting family; they even gave us a lift to dinner so we could have a few drinks and not need a cab.
All in a wonderful stay we have found our new 'regular' in Lake Placid.

I have just returned from a 10-day stay at the Stagecoach Inn in Lake Placid. The entire experience was excellent.

The owners and hosts,Mary Pat and Tony, could not have been more gracious and welcoming in every respect. Their deep knowledge of the High Peaks area was an added plus, as I and my companion planned our activities.

The inn, itself, is a treasure, dating back to 1833! Mary Pat has dressed this classic Adirondack-architecture inn in an artful fashion that really grabs the interest for anyone who wants to take a step back from the contemporary world. And for anyone interested in some-thing more modern, Tony is a former Olympic athlete, and still deepy involved with the IOC and USOC. His knowledge and stories are captivating.

Go... and enjoy!

Room Tip: Saw all of them, courtesy of our hostess. All the rooms are beautifully appointed and excellent.

We've stayed at b&b's for decades and have had some wonderful experiences. We both agree that our stay with Mary Pat and Tony at the Stagecoach Inn B&B was the best to date. By the end of our vacation in Lake Placid, we truly did feel like we were staying with friends at their home.

The decor is stunning, the breakfasts delicious, the wine and cheese offerings a great touch and the hospitality beyond compare. Mary Pat could not have been more helpful or accommodating. It's obvious that Mary Pat and Tony love what they do. Nobody does it better in our opinion. We look forward to returning and give The Stagecoach Inn our highest recommendation.

This was my first long weekend trip to Lake Placid and it was a fantastic time, due to our stay at The Stage Coach Inn. Mary Pat and Tony treated us like family and the warm and generous experience will never be forgotten. Our Wine and Cheese times were absolutely epic and our breakfasts were served up with huge portions and were delicious! This of course was all included in our room price! I would highly recommend this B & B in a second. Sipping chilled wine on their patio was ever so relaxing. They were filled with great ideas and their location was perfect for hiking, attractions and visiting the small town too. Best place to stay in Lake Placid bar none!

Stayed at the Stagecoach Inn mostly based on other reviews. We were certainly not disappointed in the least. The Inn has been completely renovated about 5 years ago. The owners Mary Pat and Tony did an amazing job. Mary Pat used to have an antique shop in town but must have used all of the antiques in the Inn. Really a neat place. The rooms are spacious and have nice private baths. Our room had it's own private roof top deck but the porch is pretty amazing too. Breakfast was an Irish Breakfast of sorts with all the sausage, ham, and bacon you wanted with either eggs or french toast. There was always fresh baked bread and home made yogurt and fruit. In the afternoon wine, cheese and crackers were served. All local cheeses and good wine. Don't make early dinner reservations you'll be too full to eat. The restaurants in town that Mary Pat recommended (and booked the reservations) were all excellent. Pays to go with the local knowledge. The Lake Placid Lodge was the best (either Maggies Pub or Artisan). When we were going to go hiking Mary Pat made us some awesome PB and J sandwiches to take along. Mary Pat and Tony are great hosts. You couldn't ask for a nicer place or nicer people to stay with. Benny the dog is adorable and friendly. For people that don't like dogs he gets kept away. If I had to reach for something that wasn't perfect (and it's quite a reach) it would be the traffic on the road in front of the Inn. It's not really a problem (the house is set back a decent distance) but on the porch it can be noisy at rush times. In the rooms you heard nothing at all.
We can't wait to come back in the winter and try some skiing

Room Tip: The Jenny suite is downstairs and has it's own private entrance. The upstairs rooms have a balco...

Simply the best...The Stagecoach Inn is a rare find thanks to Mary-Pat and Tony’s hospitality and restoration skills. A 19th century inn has been painstakingly and lovingly restored to perfection over three years with Douglas fir, nutmeg colored wainscoting on the the walls and ceilings and decorative objects, such as giant old snowshoes, that are sparingly selected and positioned with Mary-Pat’s considerable decorating talent. It was like a museum of Adirondack art but felt fresh. The lighting creates a soft ambiance that adds to the warmth and charm. Teddy Roosevelt would have fit right in here...and would have loved the breakfast. The Inn, the oldest structure in Lake Placid and which Mary-Pat was long familiar with as a Lake Placid native, was featured on the cover of a special issue of Adirondack Life magazine in 2012 and in the article “Stagecoach Inn” which highlighted the landmark’s recent renovation by the couple.

The successful efforts at historic preservation alone would be worthy of note but the quality of the bed and breakfast experience is on the same superb level. The hospitality, integrity and considerable social skills of owners Mary-Pat and Tony create a warm and comfortable stay...second to none. They work very hard and are dedicated to their inn and its guests, couples or singles, athletes or not. They are fun to be with and know just the right level of engagement. They are well respected in Lake Placid. Mary-Pat specializes in interior design and Tony has an important position running several Olympic facilities. Both are athletes. They have lots of knowledge about what to do and where to hike or ski in the Adirondacks and can set you up with ski lessons. Lakes, mountains and the Olympic skating, bobsled, luge and ski jumping towers offer lots to do and the town and nearby Saranac have cultural events, shopping and good eating...I kept eating at Jimmy's. Mary-Pat and Tony will help you make the most of all this to enjoy yourself and feel at home.

Back at the inn, they can’t do enough for you. A wine and cheese is offered gratis in late afternoon in the living room/den and is a great way to meet other guests and the owners. The breakfast room is attractive, with its wooden furniture and walls and windows on two sides. It has a large wooden table for the guests who both serve themselves and are served by Mary-Pat, who cooks a great breakfast. The food keeps coming. There are many choices of dry and hot foods, so much so that you don’t need lunch. She is concerned that you eat enough food as well as enough protein for the day and your strenuous activities. You can take some of her delicious breads and muffins and the like with you. She makes excellent home made yogurt and granola for one of the cereals, which are all organic. There is a fresh fruit salad that includes blackberries and blueberries. Additionally, she makes a full Irish breakfast of eggs and bacon and sausages or french toast served with potatoes and a poached tomato. She makes good breads and a variety of sweets which can include banana or nut breads, donuts, muffins. You can stuff yourself, finding it hard to resist. Add to this breakfast the pleasantness and cheerfulness of Mary-Pat’s personality and you have a delightful way to start the day. I have not found better experience in my travels here and abroad.

The inn and its bedrooms, though by Old Military Road, are quiet. They are impeccably clean, well maintained and beautiful. You could stay in any room and the inn’s lounging areas by the gas fire and relax and pretend you are in the wilderness in the 1800s.

When you come to the Stagecoach Inn, you want to come back. I immediately rebooked, taking the last possible room available. Mary-Pat and Tony have created great beauty and a joyful experience for their guests. The Adirondacks is largely a protected, serene wilderness and the Stagecoach Inn harmonizes with it. I loved being in both.

Room Tip: The Jenny suite, on the main level, has its own entrance.

Not only was the Stagecoach beautifully restored and decorated, Mary Pat and her husband went above and beyond expectations. Mary Pat went out of her way to provide the little extras that made our 25th anniversary week special. Tony, the behind the scenes kind of guy, quietly hooked us up with ski lessons with a friend and even cleaned the snow off our car before we went out for the morning. Breakfasts were amazing...I am now on a diet to recover:-) We highly recommend this inn and the kindness of its proprietors!
