“Worst Booking Experience Ever”
Reviewed July 12, 2011

T&C canceled our reservation without warning and without any notification. We had to pay almost 2.5 times the rate to stay at the Marriott in town because they had the only available rooms.

My sister and I needed a place to stay in Lake Placid for the night; we were picking up my nephew from ice hockey camp and needed something affordable. The room and bathroom was very clean, beds comfortable, mini fridge, and air conditioning cold. It is a basic place, probably for those on a budget, which we were. I would stay here again and recommend this place to others who are in need of a good budget hotel.

This darling, adorable establishment is run by a woman named Anna and her husband. They have clearly put their heart and soul into this place and it shows. Of course they had all the essentials: The room and linens were fresh and clean, the shower was warm, they have a pool (though we didn't use it, as we're on Mirror Lake and Lake Placid), and our room included a mini fridge and air conditioning. But beyond the standard, the entire hotel has a certain European charm, as Anna and her husband are in fact European. They were so accommodating whether I needed extra towels or holding our luggage after we had checked out for the day, as we didn't have anywhere else to put the luggage for a few hours. They were pleasant and enjoyable conversationalists. Anna's husband even built and painted a white picket fence out in front in one day!

All in all, this place was cozy, well run and charming. What more could you want from a hotel?

It was clean and roomy, larger than a typical hotel chain room. The lady at the front desk was very nice a accommodating. The rooms are a little dated. Overall a very good experience.

We stayed for 2 nights in February. Usually I have a difficult time sleeping on the road but not at this place. It was one of the best places I have ever stayed at in Lake Placid. The beds are excellent as well as clean. The room was spotless. The owners were very friendly and very accomodating. When we travel to Lake Placid from now on this will be our place to stay. Maybe next time we will try the honeymoon suite.

My family tried to make reservation over the phone for upcoming holiday. Owner was rude and hung up on me. Unprofessional and disgusting.

I regularly make my way up to Lake Placid in summer and winter, Town and Country Motor Inn is one of my favorite places to stay. The first time I walked into the office I was greeted by a really silky black cat sitting in one of the armchairs, she looked fat and happy. The rooms are nice, clean and reasonably priced. There's free wi-fi (just ask at the desk for a password) an outdoor pool, BBQ area, a work-shop for tuning your skis in the winter and bike in the summer. The owners know a lot about the area and are happy to suggest an activity or sight to see. The property is right by Lake Placid itself, you can walk over to the peninsula and go swimming by the dam. Or you can go to the beach on Mirror Lake, just past Main Street, about a ten minute walk. They also have bikes you can borrow.
