We spent a fine hour onboard this boat as it completed its circuit of Lake Placid. The boats (there are two of them) are comfortable and easy to board, although you need to USE THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PIER, as there are no facilities onboard the boats.
The boats make a circuitous route around the islands of the lake, while the tour guide describes the various Adirondack "camps" that line the waterline, along with their history and the names of the often-famous owners. It really is an interesting view of the areas that most tourists never get to see. (Many people believe that the lake they see behind Main Street in the town is Lake Placid...never realizing that it is actually Mirror Lake.
The price for this cruise is quite reasonable, (I think it was in the $25-30 range), with discounts for younger kids and free fro under age 3. This was money well-spent, especially if you are tired of walking or it is raining outside. Parking is available at the marina...which is nice in Lake Placid! I would recommend going on this tour.
