High Peaks met all our expectations - and then some! Not many hotels/resorts can meet the expectations of an eleven year old boy and 57 year old woman. Well, High Peaks surpassed our dreams. The staff is extremely accomodating. They go out of their way to "make things happen." I would stay here with family and/or friends.

This is our second time here, The rooms are modern and beautiful, as is the lobby and other public areas. However, several members of our party had problems with staff who were argumentative and unfriendly when requests were made. They even became accusatory and blamed a problem on us. This finally took me to the manager who was delightful and straightened things out quickly and well. I am hopeful he will iron out these kinks that keep High Peaks from being a truly superior resort..

I might also add that the staff one passes in the hallways seemed unhappy and unfriendly, again issues in training and hiring, I suppose.

This was our first trip to the Adirondacks staying 5 nights at the High Peaks Resort. We had a lakefront room which was across the street from the main building. Our room was modern, sparkling clean , comfortable enough for 4. We loved the spacious bathroom, granite counter tops. The kids especially liked the "bubble tub" & used it every evening. Both my husband & I thought the bed were very comfortable. We actually got very good nights sleep in them. We didn't have a problem with noise from the next rooms as previous reviews had experienced. We even had a connecting door to the next hotel room but didn't hear a thing. Only when we were in the hallway, walking past rooms could you hear the people's business.
We loved the very convenient access to the complimentary rowboats, kayaks and paddleboats. We got a lot of use of these every day. The outdoor pool by the lake was also just steps from our patio door! We used the pool too since the kids are avid swimmers. My husband and the kids even used the indoor pool at the main building one day as it poured throughout the day. The indoor pool was small but it was only busy that day due to the rain.

The resort has a decent fitness room with treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. There were also free weights and t.v while you exercise. The lobby is spacious and has nice decor. Lots of places to sit & relax. Didn't have the fireplace going at this time of year.

We tried Dancing Bears on our first afternoon we got hear. The prices were reasonable for this tourist area and the portions were generous. It was the usual pub fair since we got there too early for the dinner menu. We liked the wings and had some beer on tap since they said it was $2 drafts. We went to other dining establishments the rest of our stay to get a feel of the town.

Only negatives: They don't keep enough pool towels by the lakefront pool throughout the day. There's not a bin for them & just set on top of a patio table. They respond immediately though & bring out more towels when the service number is called. One other thing is the free internet access was kind of slow.

The location of this resort is excellent. We didn't have to move our car from the lakefront parking lot to go out for meals. We just walked through the town & covered it easily even with you kids. We were happy we didn't have to deal with finding a parking spot in town or dealing with the meters.

So this was a great stay for us and glad we booked a lakefront room. The view of the lake was a nice touch.

stayed in a King Balcony room on 5th Floor of main building - overlooked pool and with views of Mirror Lake. Made the reservation with the impression that the hotel was on the lake... that was disappointing because the hotel is actually across the street from Mirror Lake in the town of Lake Placid.
Hair in the drain and in the bathroom. The room decor is not as plush as it appears online... it was an average hotel room. Bed and pillows were awesome, as was the tv. Also, walking distance to downtown shops, but must drive to see Lake Placid.
Overall -- Our room was not worth 280... but not sure what comes cheaper in that area...

We have traveled all over The United States, Canada, and Europe and I have never slept in a more comfortable bed. We stayed in the rooms at the lakeside under the parking garage. When I put my head on the pillow, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. When I got out of bed, I didn't have any back pain. The staff who cleaned our rooms were very accommodating. It was a great experience.

As regulars to Lake Placid, our experience was almost flawless. We got a great deal from Priceline and were upgraded to a lakeview king on the 5th floor, thanks to concierge manager James Coe. The former Hilton has been upgraded to what I hear is just about a four star property. Everything is still pretty well spanking new. Excellent bed, flatscreen TV, updated bathroom with two sprayer shower stall where the bathtub was previously. Complimentary USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Plattsburgh Press Republican amd NY Times in the gorgeous lobby. Three swimming pools: the indoor appears to have been untouched from the previous Hilton generation, outdoors have been redone, new patios etc. Boats available on Mirror Lake. Although we didn't sample the restaurants, they looked very busy. There is a 50 cent charge for local calls. but I was never charged for them. Only minor complaint were the balconies with cement that was in rough shape. This place can compete with the pricey Mirror Lake Inn, a is certainly suprior to The Crowne Plaza, an the location is in the centre of all that Main Street hs to offer.

Our new home away from home.

My husband and I decided to head to Lake Placid as a stop on the way to visit my brother in New England. We weren't quite sure where to stay and had looked up some spots online which brought us to the High Peaks Resort . . . and loved it. I have to start with the employees. It really was because of them that we chose to stay here. They were so accommodating and friendly, and this endured through our stay (which ended up to be two nights as we were enjoying it so much). We stayed in the main hotel which has rooms overlooking Mirror Lake. It's recently been renovated and it was gorgeous. The lobby is so nice, and the rooms super nice. The room was quiet, spacious (we had a leather sectional sofa, and the bathrooms are finished with gorgeous stonework) and the view fantastic. On top of it, it's right on the main street so you can just walk around the downtown and not have to worry about parking or driving. We also ended up eating most of our meals at the Dancing Bears restaurant at the Hotel. It's a good, comfortable space on main street, decent prices, good service, yummy food. Finally I should mention where the hotel is situated in the Adirondacks. It's such a beautiful area with so much you can do during the days - so as mentioned we opted to stay a second night and take in the park area. We've already reacommended it to friends. We'll be back!
