“A Miracle of Lake Placid”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Who doesn't want to see the arena where the U.S.A. beat Russia in the Olympic Games? They have made it into something of a tourist item but it's cool never-the-less (pun intended). My favorite part is that they dump all of the ice shavings in front of the building so there is snow outside year-round!

“Cool”

Lots of cool artifacts in this museum. Right size with right amount of stuff. Even good size for kids who may not be big fans of museums.

“If you're an Ice Hockey fan, it's a must visit!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Being big hockey fans, this was of great interest to us. Besides the museum, which is small but has some great stuff, you can visit the '32 and '80 Olympic ice rinks. It was such a thrill for us to be in the rink where the "Miracle on Ice" took place. And there's no better way to spend a hot, humid summer day than in a chilly ice rink.

Make sure to check out the "real snow" in front of the venue. It is real, I checked. :) There are guided tours available for an extra fee which are probably very interesting but we just looked around on our own. Price of admission was included with the Olympic Passport.

From this venue you can see the Olympic speedskating rink next door as well as the ski jumps in the distance. Great views!

There is food available (and they serve Starbucks coffee) as well as a gift shop and restrooms. On Friday and Saturday nights they have skating events at the arenas, both figure skating and on the day we were there, Can-Am hockey.

Plan to spend an hour or two here and it should be plenty of time. The museum opens at 9am and closes at 5pm. Skating events start in the evening, around 7pm.
