“Small, But Nice Museum”
Reviewed June 2, 2011

Well worth the visit. Part of the Olympic Passport package. Very interesting memorabilia. 1/2 hour tops to see it all. In Olympic Center Building. Don't need a tour of Olympic Center Building to see both rinks. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed February 10, 2011

We purchased the Olympic passport which gives you one visit to each of the Olympic venues and the museum is included. We went to them all and each was worth it. The museum has an amazing collection of Olympic memorabilia, photos and information about not only the Lake Placid Olympics but other ones as well. It is only a small museum so an hour or two at most is all you need to see it properly.

“So thrilling to think the Olymics were held here.”
Reviewed October 28, 2010

How much fun it is to see the slopes that were here for the olympics and how this town came alive for such an event. What a massive ice rink, if your interested in learning the history of the winter olympics this place is cool. When were were there it was freezing but fun.

“Not a real museum. But it does have a real collection.”
Reviewed October 23, 2010

This place is fascinating, but it needs a major donor/sponsor. And a museum curator. It has some incredible items in its collection (e.g., Gold, silver, bronze medals from all of the modern era Oympics) but things like Evan Lysacek's costume when he won the Gold Medal in Vancouver this year are just hanging on the wall. Uncovered, collecting dust and fading. Collection includes an amazing number of items from the USA "Miracle on Ice" hockey team that beat the Russians in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. But all crowded together, and very few items are protected. When I asked about restroom facilities, I was directed to a locker room where I accidentally found the Herb Brooks Arena where the Miracle took place. Not even a sign inviting you to view it. Don't miss the museum if you can find it. It's at the Olympic Center behind a door marked "Spectators".

“Lake Placid - great place for a short family vacation”
Reviewed October 17, 2009

Went to Lake Placid for a night, 2 days. I was surprised to see how much there was to do with the kids. Kids had a great time.
