“Fun place, often crowded”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

We usually dine here when in Placid, but you have to go early. Menu is decent, mostly pub food without too much diversity. French Onion soup was touted to be the best, yet was very watery and lacked flavor. Caesar Salad was fresh and offered large chunks for romaine. Fish Fish was just that, a piece of fish deep fried and tossed with Buffalo sauce. The beers are close to style and flavorful. The place is very lively due to it's location in town and with abundant parking, yet it's odd since it sits right on top of the National Sports Academy. The waitress was very attentive for a while, but then got overwhelmed with the weekend tables.

“Great Beer!”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

Visited the Lake Placid Pub & Brewery last weekend. The bar area was great, loved the free popcorn and the beer selection. I was with a large group and everyone found something they liked. Had to wait almost 90 minutes, they don't have a lot of space to accommodate large groups so plan ahead. The food was good, especially the ribs. Would go back next time I'm in Lake Placid.

“Great Beer Highlights This Experience”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

I love the atmosphere of this pub--lots of cool decor on the walls and very homey setting. It's really cool to see the vats in the brewery and see how the great beer is made. I had the beer sampler, which was a fun way to try several different types of beer they offer. I found the food to be simple pub food, very satisfactory.

“Great Food; Great Service; Love the Ambience”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

The food was good, the ambience was great and the service was prompt and attentive. We ordered buffalo shrimp as an appetizer and were pleasantly surprised (and delighted) to see their take on what may normally be some broiled/grilled shrimp with seasoning. It was nothing of the sort - they were lightly breaded and crisped and were tossed in a chicken wing style sauce. Mmm :) Very good, I definitely recommend this. My dinner was Shepard's Pie. The shepard's pie was plentiful and flavorful, nicely done. My husband had Bratwurst it was just as he expected. This place is a great bang for your buck. We each also tried one of the craft brews, the Cascade Pale Ale and the Ubu Ale. Both were enjoyable.

“Warm, busy, lovely suds.”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

Very nice sized portions and for a pub, nothing was greasy while offering good taste and flavor. What really stood out was this pub's comforts being locally produced home brews most of which were for me, very smooth. Their 6 sampler was a perfect way to indulge myself in a variety of Lake Placid area beers. Service was fast and not pushy, although I have no idea who served us. In a comfortable hour, we were in and out, had a great relaxing time within the remodeled heritage building. Lots of locals who perhaps call the Pub home. Pricing was very reasonable. We would definitely go back, and tried, but the wait time was excessive. I feel there is more to this pub, but never really felt its vibe, so next time we are in Lake Placid, we'll try again.
