“Lamplight Inn Bed & Breakfast - " A Beautiful, quiet, relaxful Inn"”
Reviewed June 23, 2008

My husband and I were having difficulty finding a Bed and Breakfast to stay in after we dropped our son off at sleepaway camp in Speculator, NY.

About two weeks prior to our trip I spent hours upon hours looking at Inn's to stay at. The Lamplight Inn caught my eye but for whatever reason I did not contact them. With our son safetly at camp we were feeling the pressure of finding where are we going to stay. Luckily we came across a sign for Lake Luzerne and I remembered visiting the website of The Lamplight Inn. I dialed their number and Inkeeper, Linda gave me the news that they had two rooms left. I asked if we could view them before deciding if we wanted to stay which Linda said was fine.

From the moment we pulled up the driveway and viewed this beautiful Inn from the outside we knew we would be happy here. Once inside we could not get over the beauty and comfort of this victorian Inn. Not to mention it was immaculate!

We ended up spending our first night in the beautiful Rose Room and our second in the Skylight Suite which included a King sized bed and a Jacuzzi tub. We had a wonderful relaxful time and enjoyed a generous breakfast both mornings.

It's not a matter of if we will come back... it is a matter of when?

What a beautiful place! We stayed in the carriage house - the annex to the main building - in the "Woodside Romance" room, complete with comfy king-size bed and en-suite jacuzzi. We really enjoyed our time here. It was beautiful, relaxing...just a lovely long weekend away. The breakfast was also quite yummy. One small gripe, however, would be that breakfast is only offered between 8:30 and 9:30 AM, forcing all who wish to enjoy it to be up and at 'em at a relatively early hour...not really an exciting prospect when one is on vacation. Another odd thing was the staff. The staff was nice enough, but seemed pretty disinterested in making guests happy, given the fact that the B&B exists to please the patron. In any case and despite those two things, our weekend was thoroughly enjoyable, and we'd certainly return!

Great place to stay, owners Gene and Linda are wonderful people, will go overboard to make your stay a memorable one. Have stayed 3 different times and have never been disappointed. Look forward to going back. Convenient location between Lake George and Saratoga. Breakfast are great, everyday little different with choices. Only complaint about the breakfast is that there is no real maple syrup. Will continue to choose Lamplight anytime we need a few days away. Type of place that the more nights you stay, the more you want to stay. Relaxing! We stay at B&B's when traveling and Lamplight ranks about the best. Great anytime of year!

My boyfriend of 7 years suprised me one friday by kidnapping me and taking me up to the Lamplight Inn for one night's stay in the Lilac room (comes with a jacuzzi tub for two, a fireplace, and a gourmet breakfast the following morning). The place was beautiful, the setting was cosy, the room was awesome, the jacuzzi was amazing, and the breakfast was to die for! Though a bit costly, it was WELL worth it for this special occasion.

  • Liked — The Bed and Breakfast was so cute and cosy and the breakfast was awesome!
  • Disliked — Small things weren't observed - dying flowers in main room, water leak stain on ceiling in room, higher priced...

Lamplight Inn is a lovely place to stay in the lower Adirondacks. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms in the house behind the inn were spacious and very comfortable. The innkeepers were extremely helpful overall. The only complaint we have is the lack of apology we received over a small but significant incident. We were locked out and the innkeepers had gone out for dinner and left a phone number for emergency contact. We called for two hours and received only an answering machine. Finally they returned home and gave us another key BUT there was never an "I'm sorry" or any other admission that maybe they should have been more available!

This was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast and could not have had a better experience. The owners are lovely and caring people, always willing to chat and give suggestions on what to do in the Lake George area. The property itself is charming and romantic, the room was clean and comfy. In fact, we even felt like it was our own room! Breakfast was very delicious. As you can tell, we could not have been more satisfied with the Lamplight Inn - highly recommended.

Wow, I am truly shocked at others' comments. I booked our two night mid-week stay via telephone. Linda, one of the owners, could not have been any nicer or more accomodating. When my husband and I arrived for our 10 year anniversary, we were met by Gene who guided us to our room and gave us miscellaneous info on where to eat, etc . for the night. We saw Linda and Gene when we went out to dinner and later for ice cream. They are friendly, easy-going people. This is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Everything was perfect and absolutely gorgeous. The breakfast was perfect for a health nut, as there was plenty of fresh fruit, homemade granola...and egg-white omelettes too! As far as the comments regarding the rules, the rules are completely reasonable and totally called for in today's world of law suits. We are already talking with friends to go back for a couples vacation. The Lamplight Inn is realxing, romantic, and refreshing! It is a definite MUST-STAY!!
