Lamplight Inn Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 2 Lake Luzerne B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Fabulous place. First, Lake Luzerne is at a wonderful, convenient distance from NYC and Boston, so that anyone looking for a weekend gateway to the Lake George, Lake Champlain and Lake Placid Regions would be wise to spend at least their first night here. You can leave work a few minutes early on Friday and still get here at a reasonable hour. Anything further north precludes doing so.

Second, the B&B (actually more an Inn than a B&B) is beautiful and extremely well run. George and Linda are friendly but not obtrusive. George helped us with our bags on arrival (even though it really wasn't necessary) and their whole staff is as responsive as it gets. We wanted to get an early start to Lake Placid Saturday morning, and the waitress staff opened the breakfast room early to accommodate us.

Third, breakfast is delicious and BIG!!

Finally, the rooms are beautifully furnished: beds filled with pillows, gas fireplaces toasty (we turned off the heat despite the 37 degree temperature outside), and clean. Our room (Lilac) came with a a teddy bear on the bed, a tea-pot shaped pillow on the arm chair, and a rocker in the vestibule outside our room. The common areas of the Inn are charming and welcoming.

This is a great getaway for a quiet romantic weekend or for use as a gateway to Lake George, Lake Champlain and the Lake Placid-Saranac Lake region.

I'm glad you had a good time. The both of you were so well planned during your stay with us. You experienced Lake George and Lake Placid and in between. I'm glad we got in a little protein filled breakfast for you so you could catch the tourist train up in Lake Placid. Hope to see you again.

Just had a wonderful 9 nine days as a guest at the Lamplight. A wonderful property located in Lake Luzerne with easy access to Lake George... hiking trails in the Adirondacks... Saratoga Springs... and Glens Falls. Best part of this beautifully renovated property are the hosts, Linda and Gene, who started developing the Inn 28 years ago. They are a delight, as are Sally (Breakfast General, strong & true), Caroline, Chelsea and all the other staff.

Breakfast was terrific -- Gene does the best cranraisin/walnut pancakes ever -- and the rooms are spacious & cozy at the same time.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The suites are good, if you HAVE to have a jacuzzi in your room -- which is exactly what I did, and...

Thank you for the wonderful review. You both became part of the family after a nine day stay.
You were so pleasant and fun to talk to. You hiked despite 9 days of crazy weather. Hope you come back for a visit and to try out other Adirondack peaks.

We were given a gift certificate for a B&B from our children. We chose the Lamplight Inn due to it's proximity to Warrensburg, NY. Upon arrival we were greeted by Linda & Gene and immediately felt at home. The Inn is
beautiful after many years of Gene's refurbishing. Went off to Warrensburg the next day to attend the "World's largest garage sale", spent the day walking around in rain & mist but did enjoy ourselves despite the weather. Breakfast was a delight, with more than one choice on the menu. (We have eaten in B&B's before without any choice, we ate what they put on our plate). Met some wonderful couples and enjoyed chatting with them both at breakfast and in the main room. Thanks Gene & Linda for making our stay an enjoyable one. Hope to return soon,

I love when guests can make the best out of a rainy weekend. You met new people and had a good breakfast and treked around the World's Largest garage Sale in misty rain, and still had fun. We had such a great group of guests that weekend. It made it fun for us.

We have just spent two nights at the lamplight bead and breakfast and it was just wonderful, the welcome we received was very friendly , the lamplight it's self is such a lovely place and our room, the Victoria, was very comfortable with a four poster bed. We did have a sneaky look in the other rooms and all are very individual well appointed. The breakfast....what can I say.......Linda's homemade granola.....delicious!!!!. If you get the chance to visit lake luzerne or lake George treat yourselves and stay here... You won't regret it!!

We visited this inn in 2001 and found it to be very charming. Eleven years later we returned to find the inn keepers just as friendly as before, the inn had grown with several modern day options and features. If you want a romantic setting with old fashion values, warmth and charm. this is the inn for you. It's like walking into a family members home for whom you have not seen in a long time and feeling so welcomed. Even the other guests are so friendly. There is an old saying, attitudes are contagious, and Gene and Linda have proven this in a very positive manner. We can't wait to visit them and there beautiful inn again.

Have been to many B&B and this is by far my favorite. Beautiful rooms and great breakfasts.
Owner is very helpful with information on the area. Only a short distance from Lake George area and also Saratoga Springs. Have stayed 3 years in a row so we can go to Saratoga Springs Race Track and planning on staying again next year.

Had a wonderful stay at your B & B. This was our second time and won't be the last. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We had no desire for lunch after a filling breakfast. Convenient to Lake George and Saratoga, yet peaceful and quiet when we wanted to avoid the hustle & bustle.

Fellow guests were friendly and enjoyed their company. Had some wonderful talks with the owner Linda at breakfast and throughout our stay.

We will be back!
