“Had a very good stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

Rented a kabin here for three days, and enjoyed our stay. We read the reviews people have been writing and began to worry, but being used to camping in the rough it was very good.

Our cabin had a/c. Big plus when daytime highs were over 85F. Internet was adequate. Pool was frequented by many young families. We had our canoe with us and leaving it behind while day tripping was okay with the owners. Two miles from the KOA is Forth Lake/Luzerne State Park, excellent calm lake for paddling and fishing. Up the road are three white water rafting companies for the more adventurous.

The KOA is not huge. Only about 80 sites. The only bathrooms are at the store, but that is only about 200 yards from all the sites. The store is stocked with more necessity than want. Most camp stores lose money if there is a nearby shopping area. It is only twenty minutes to Wallyworld and other stores.

For the three days we were there we had a very good stay.

Didn't meet up to the KOA standards in my opinion. Showers were clean but a trickle when others running at same time, pool was full of spiders, not very friendly staff and Internet was no good .... Sadly, we wouldn't recommend it to anyone for their money.

We came to the camp sight with the idea it was a KOA it has to be a great place to camp. BOY were we wrong. We always try to camp at KOA's because our experence with KOA is that their grounds are a step above the rest. I guess not all KOA's are that way. This sight is a far cry from any KOA we have seen before. The owner was rude and started the conversation by telling my girlfriend and I quote "you're a lier". He rides around on his golf cart and makes demands and is not in anyway customer friendly. Our 6 person picnic table was so rotten we were unable to use it. The day we left one person sat on it and the seat broke off and our friend landed on the ground. The bench outside the bathrooms were also rotten with broken slats. The over all appearence was not inviting at all. I guess KOA doesn't inspect these camp grounds for quality. I advise everyone to find a different sight when camping near Saratoga/ Lake George NY. KOA YOU REALLY NEED TO INSPECT THIS PLACE

I was doubting staying here based on the previous reviews that I'd read but I'm glad we decided to go ahead (family of 4 with young children). 15 min max to Lake George and 2 min away from Lake Lazerne (try the Upriver Cafe; AMAZING food!). Though certainly having aged quite a bit, this KOAs grounds, trails, washrooms, common areas, pool, playground, cabin were all clean and tidy. The staff were all friendly and accomodating. Where it lacked was in having any of the wonderful kids activities we are used to at KOA and as mentioned in other reviews any signage to get there from the highway.

This "KOA" must have been overlooked by those that take pride in the KOA repution. Bad hosts who obviously don't like any type of distruption. Dirty pool. Fire pits (which would have been ok if they mentioned this fact and we could have brought a grate). Dirty bathrooms (yes, even for a campground). And I think it must have been the owners grandchildren maintaining the facilities. I was so disappointed because there were so many great camping locations to choose from, but we went with KOA thinking we'd get a better experience. We even paid almost $10 more to go to a KOA. I don't recommend this location AT ALL. Find something closer to Lake George and something that is cleaner with friendly hosts.

Room Tip: Ask for a spot in the back ... easy to hear traffic in the front

We have had very good experiences with other KOA campgrounds, so when we wanted to go to the Adirondack region, we were happy that there is a KOA nearby. Unfortunately, this place is very bad, we are surprised that it is even a KOA campground ...

We booked a cabin for 3 nights and we did not stay even a night. We arrived after hours - around 9:45pm and were surprised that they had not even left a map of the campground - just a note "go to cabin #...". We found the cabin and when we opened the door we were badly surprised - the place has not been cleaned for years. There was dust everywhere, there was sand on the mattresses, all the furniture had dirty stains, I used 5 Clorox disinfecting wipes to try to clean the table, even the 5th one was black/gray, so I gave up. The cabin was full with an assortment of spiders, flies, beetles, butterflies, and millipedes.

We could have cleaned the cabin for another 1-2 hours and probably would have stayed, but then we went to the bathroom (there is only one for a campground of ~80 sites). And it was also dirty and not maintained at all. So we just left around midnight and we would never go back.

Definitely would NOT recommend it to anyone.

To start, when booking this trip we had 4 couples and all our kids coming, when we called to book thy owner infomed us that kids were $4 a night extra because they were ''annoying and destroy his store''. We booked anyway. When you get to lake george there are no signs what so ever for this campground, which made finding it hard, and its at least 15 min from any attractions or shopping in lake george. on arrival we were greeted by the co-owner (his wife) who asked us if we got smart and left our kds behind...we said no and she proceeded to check us in. It was the smallest KOA store I have ever seem with few productc available. The pool was ICE COLD and nasty...looks like it hasnt been cleaned all summer and even after mentioning this to the owners it wasnt cleaned in the 3 days we were there. The advertise a fishing pond, there is none. IT was there a long time ago, it is now a dried up spot. They also advertise ''grassy'' sites, and the sites were all grass. The owners proceeded to drove past our sites every 30 min and made comments about large groups being a problem (we where a group of 8 adults and 7 kids on 4 separate sites) They are an older couple who seem like people, kids and anything besides mabye other old couples are a problem. The garbage was across the campgrounds and they do not do pickup (as many other koa's do) and the bathrooms close for 1 hour a day no exceptions..other koa's ive been to close them at night for cleaning when they are less likely to get used.
