Just returned from 10 days at the Kairaba Beach Hotel. We booked a delux room and were upgraded to a Superior room. The room was large at the end of a block with an L shaped balcony, looking into beautiful grounds. Well furnished but the bathroom was a little tired.
The hotel beach was poor. It is being eroded by the sea and the defenses are an eyesore.
The pool area and gardens have plenty of sun loungers and the staff are very attentive, always with a smile. Breakfast buffet was a joy and the afternoon tea (free) was a nice touch to chat to other residents. We spent a lot of our time out of the hotel. Cooking with Ida was an amazing experience, we joined 3 other couples at her house ,we were dressed in local outfits and taken to Tanji fishing village market to buy fish and veg. then returned to her house to cook it and eat it for lunch, a brilliant day. Local bird watching guide Hassan Gindeh took us to many of the places of interest for wildlife, a dugout canoe trip into the mangroves, 3 or 4 nature reserves and the local sewage farm (even spotted Chris Packam there) . Hassan real knows his countries birds and was good fun to be with.
Will definitively return.More
