There aren't a lot of good hotels in Lalibela, but this is one of them. The staff is great, the place is clean. The room is a bit drab and lacks any sort of fan or A/C, but in general it's a nice place. There is even internet when it's working. The food we had there was actually much better than I expected. I would recommend giving the restaurant a try before venturing out. It was the best meal we had in Lalibela.

You have to pay cash and there are no ATMs in Lalibela. In a pinch, you can go to Tocal Village (a hotel) to use your Visa but they will charge you 20%. Better to bring plenty of cash.

Staff in restaurant were great, especially Jemanesh Mohamed who prepared popcorn and then the best coffee I have had the pleasure to drink. Her smile that evening and whenever she waited on us was outstanding. The accomodation, the food and the staff were excellent.

I have never seen such a fantastic service in any hotel I've ever been call it 5* or so. The management, the people working there are really humble and nice. They are real and the service is really awsome.

This is a very good Ghion hotel. Rooms as usual, OK. Good restaurant and bar with good service. Good gift shop in the lobby. BBC in the lobby. Overall good service.

This hotel grows on you. Once yopu remember you are in the middle of nowhere in rural ethiopia, it is more that acceptable. The manager bent over backwards to be accomodating, though not always with a smile. The room at first appeared a little dirty, but once the bedspread was removed from the bed it seemed better. A tv and phone in the room, but neither worked. Very fast interent terminals in the lobby for a VERY reasonable fee. Ice cold drinks at the bar all day long. The food was not very appealing. Overall, more than adequate for a visit to Lalibela, but nothing to create a fond memory of.

The rooms were identical to other Ghion hotels. However the service at this hotel was fabulous - they should do some coaching at the other hotels.

The location of this hotel is a bit of a hike from the churches, but doable. There's a really neat bar (not sure if that's the right word) past the hotel - has ethnic singing & dancing at night - was fun.

Could've used more light in the room, but it was quite clean & laundry was less expensive than at other hotels for this chain.

The sweeter of many of the hotels in Lalibela. Beautiful, simple, clean rooms and a wonderful staff. Watch out for the gift-shop employees--they'll try to recruit you to buy their wares at their own shops across the road. Limited hours of hot water, which is okay by me. The food, well, a bit repetitive, but one shouldn't complain when basking in the lap of a luxury the villagers have no access to.
