Can't recommend this place enough - lovely, helpful people, nice bright rooms and brilliant facilities/restaurant as well. The resident hotel guide is also brilliant and very well informed - he made our tour around the church circuits something to remember for a very long time.

This is a great place. Good clean rooms and bathrooms (not heavy on the furnishings or furniture though!) and with fantastic views. The staff are really friendly, helpful and most importantly open and honest. It is off the 'main' road so quiet and safe. They sorted out an amazing guide for us who charged the going rate rather than an inflated rate.

Food isnt great, so we ate at the Seven Olives which looked like it had poor rooms in a noisy part of town, but did have a good kitchen.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Jerusalem Hotel (formerly called Jerusalem Guest House). It was very reasonably priced and the room was big and clean. Tile floors, clean linens and hot water 24 hours as far as we could tell.
The restaurant is very good - serving both western food and traditional food. Sit out and drink a St. George beer or two on the 'veranda' area and chat with other travelers - it's always fun to hear about other's plans.
Also, Gashaw is a local, licensed guide works out of The Jersusalem - ask for him - he is very knowledgeable, very nice and speaks English very well. He arranged a trip for us to a monastery about 50KM from Lalibela and it was the highlight of our trip there.

We stayed in the Lasta Hotel (also called Jerusalem Guest House or Jerusalem Hotel. The rooms are not as "Americanized" as Tukul Village, but the rooms are adequate and the view of the valley and the village below was great. The service was good and the people were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant at the Jerusalem was very good and nicely served. We used the hotel's professional guide. We pronounced his name "Abbey" though that is not how it is spelled. He is a former teacher and principle. He was excellent and knew history which pleased us.

After 2 name changes (Jerusalem Guest House and Lasta Hotel) its now Jerusalem Hotel and TripAdvisor should move it to the hotels page. I have stayed 3x and enjoyed every time, particularly the very helpful and communicative staff, ready to do any minor tasks with a smile. The rooms are large, airy, and sparse, but at least there's no spot where a bug could hide and the sleeping was great. My party preferred Jerusalem's cooking to any other (apart from the airport cafe in Gonder which was also good) and its safe and secure. A little far from the sites, great view of sunset, etc. Fix up good guides, efficient shuttles, etc. Congrats to the management.
