We were there in the off season so it was very quite. They provide a free hot breakfast. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the beautiful valley and mountains. The only problem we encountered was their connection to MasterCard or Visa would not work. Internet connection was sporadic and there was a very long thunder and lightening storm that kept the power out for 12 hrs but we were given candles.

The Panoramic View Hotel in Lalibela is a real tribute to its name: newly built onto one of the most sought after scenic view slopes in Lalibela (that's certainly why there is some hotel construction around it) it overlooks a huge valley and most other hotels below it. That wonderful view is supplemented by a clean new building with a huge terrace and with most gadgets (hot water, WiFi, bed lamps etc. - but not their credit card machine) working, with a respectful attentive staff (with a very knowledgeable reception!) and an unobtrusive, but friendly and helpful GM. The hotel restaurant has a tasteful decoration and the food is ok with local standards. And the hotel is not too expensive compared with other famous Lalibela hotels. According to our western price standards (though it is a hell of a lot of money for local standards) you really get more than you pay for.

Room Tip: Get a forward facing room - those are all looking over the valley.

Stayed there 2 nights as part of a package tour in late March. The biggest plus point for this hotel is the views from the rooms and the terraces over the cliff edge. It is located a few minutels from the "town" of Lalibela on a ridge. Currently there are two hotels being built on both sides of the hotel and the road leading to the hotel is also being repaired. Opposite the entrance of the hotel are a few local "houses". Villagers are friendly enough. There are no TVs and phones in the rooms but with the great view, it is not missed. After a tiring and dusty day exploring the Lalibela churches, this new hotel serves its purpose with great views, decent food, friendly staff, running water (ableit low pressure, but most hotels in Ethiopia are the same) and a good nights rest. As with most hotels in Ethiopia, there are no AC or fans so open the windows to let the cool mountain breeze in but be prepared for mozzies, I would like to compliment Amdemariam for arranging a wonderful dinner with coffee ceremony and bonfire for our group.

The views are lovely, but this place needs to try a bit harder. We really did try to like the food, but it was a bit hard to do - the restaurant staff seemed much happier to sit and chat among themselves than to do more normal food service things and the menu and servings left a lot to be desired. During our visit, the best example was the French toast with 'special house sauce' that arrived dry on a plate and without the special sauce (which it turned out was meant to be honey). After a few tries we gave up trying to explain to the server why this might have some bearing on the quality of the dish and instead looked forward to the lovely saltines Ethiopian Air would probably be serving. Avoid Room 101 unless you want to try living in a hotel restaurant or lobby, which is essentially what you'll be trying to do. And there isn't any Wifi yet, although they do seem to be trying to have it installed.

One of a group of ten hotels being built on a spur road out of Lalibella, this is one of the first to be completed - building sites on both sides in Feb 2013 and so some daytime noise, dust and rubble. The hotel is new and modern with truly spectacular views, falling sheer from the garden wall. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with spacious and working (if a little wonky) bathrooms, hot water, picture window onto a balcony with THE view, Our room doors opened onto a walkway visible from the road. It was almost empty when we were there but staff charming and talkative, Breakfast took a while but was plentiful - toasted bread and eggs, with juice and coffee, We didn't eat dinner there but other restaurants a walkable distance away.

A friend said the place was expensive when he went there, but I got a nice room for a reasonable price. Food is good and service is very warm. The go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. My tour guide booked for me, and I was happy
