Checkin was swift. When we got to our room situated at the entrance of the hotel, there was no water to shower. This took sometime to address with many explanations given - no water in the town, previous guests used up the water in the room tank and so on. It was great that our morning departure was later so that we were able to insist on receiving water for a shower. We were advised that a large tank is to be installed hopefully as this account is being reported. A box of wine was given as a good will gesture - much better to have water in place. The room was very spacious, four poster beds with mosquito nets, slippers locally made, dressings gowns, tv, a mini bar but no fridge, well supplied with towels and toiletries. The restaurant staff were excellent and are worthy of mention, had we brought their names away. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner. Porridge was readily available. We particularly loved the choice of juices. The grounds are not necessarily easy to negotiate at night but we very much enjoyed the pleasant morning stroll. We did notice young people being given a guided tour of the hotel - a venue the proprietors must be proud of. The view from the patio with the swimming pool looking in any direction is very pleasing. We enjoyed the spa treatment very much and thank the manageress and her staff for the excellent service they provided us with. The duty manager is to be acknowledged here. Many thanks to the bell boy - Mesganew Atloge who brought our cases out. Nothing was too much for him to do. We hope that he is recognised for this by his employers and also for his talents which could no doubt be used more appropriately. We could have happily rated this property five stars had we not had difficulty with the water.

Room Tip: One would have to climb stairs to get to higher rooms. The location of some rooms could appear secl...

We arrived on a group tour, it was all a bit confusing, people were placed allthroughout the compound, very dark and poorly lit...trouble closing their doors with the padlocks...
We had a lovely room overlooking the pool however, no hot water throughout our stay and plenty of bugs. A lot of complaining, the tour manager had to deal with a lot of stuff. The hotel offered us a box of wine as a gesture of goodwill.
We stayed 2 nights but no joy.
The staff in the restaurant varied from rude to extremely nice.... The food ok-ish, the dinner not as good as the breakfast the wine list has a service charge and tax add on which is crazy.
Apparently the complimentary foot massages where excellent.

Our stay coincided with a major conference on trachoma which appeared to be hosted by ex-President Carter's foundation and a drug company who make little blue pills (!). Whilst all a bit 'Constant Gardener' I thought the hotel coped extremely well with such an influx of prestigious guests including Ethiopian ministers, little old us and a few others. Normally if you're sharing a dining room with a huge group you'd be left to the wolves but the hotel had put on enough staff to ensure we were served in a friendly and timely fashion. The free massage is to die for and more than welcome after a nine hour flight to the country, followed by a sleepless night and another flight. Housekeeping could do a little tour of the day beds to shake them out a bit and the lighting in the rooms must have been designed by a mad man but otherwise we really liked this hotel. We loved the exotic birds, perching in the trees and the happy hour, although as other guests have pointed out, they could really do with a little bar area. Staff friendly and sweet-natured, food just fine, location great. Borrowed a hairdryer and had to be shown how to jam a two-pin plug into a three-pin socket (doh).

Perhaps three stars is generous. However, our room overlooking the pool and beyond to the lake was charming with great views, albeit that the lighting in the room was rather dim. The staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful. However, there are significant flaws. When we arrived, we needed to request that the water be turned on. There was no hot water in the room and the toilet only would flush once- then there was no water. The problem with the hot water was replicated the next day. The system for closing the door creates problems. If you close the door from the outside, the person inside cannot get out. Conversely, if the person inside closes the door, you cannot come back in. Internet is only available in dim unpleasant front lobby. There is a cocktail hour on the veranda between the pool and the lake. However, there are no tables and it does not seem to lead to any mixing between guests and staff.

We stayed this resort one night with friends. This place was fantastic in comparison. We were given a lake view room at no extra cost. The resort is really picturesque, the rooms are clean and a great size. Plus extra bed at balcoly, the hotel is well decorated in detail traditionally.

Room Tip: In this resort you have a chance to see many different kinds of birds.

Our third night in Ethiopia and first night outside Addis. Disappointed as we had been told this was a great hotel [we subsequently stayed in better]. We were glad we were only staying one night. We had asked for a Lakeside Room, which we got, but ... it was very dark and dingy and you could only see the lake if you stood on a stone outside our terrace! I think the room above us would have been better or a room near the pool/main area - we were at the boundary of the property past the restaurant. Here was the only time in two weeks of travelling in Ethiopia I used my mosquito repellent coils. We were looking forward to dinner and there were several western items on the menu. I had Penne Pasta with tomato & garlic sauce [quite spicy] which was ok but husband had Yegtibs with rice which was very tough and ended up eating my pasta. Chocolate mousse like packet stuff. St. Georges beer is good though.
Breakfast was ok - try the local honey. The staff were nice. To be fair to the hotel we had to cancel the original night as no planes flying to Bahir Dar [duststorm] so re booked for the following night and they fitted us in. Could only get Wi-Fi near the main buildings/pool area.

Room Tip: Do not recommend ground floor "Lakeside" room as dark and dingy and hard to see the lake...
