Basic yet beautiful lodge on a private beach on stunningly beautiful Moheli island. Don't expect luxuries, hot water or 24x7 electricity, but in return you get to see the simple ways of life on a rather remote little island, enjoy daily fresh fish or lobster, organic fruit and veg, warm bread straight from what we would call 'oven'. I spent 8 nights at Laka Lodge with my 13 year old daughter and would not want to miss a single day of doing 'nothing' except relax and enjoy the 5* scenery, hospitality, gorgeous climate and simply the fact to be away from it all.........and of course a few tours to turtle beach, to see the bats in the forest and two boat trips. The local manager Ally and his team are going out of their way to please the few tourists staying with them, and although they don't speak a word of English they really made us feel at home!
Due to the next to non existing tourism infrastructure in the Comoros, and even less to on Moheli, this country isn't everybody's cup of tea, but if you are after an unusual exotic destination most people never heard of, let alone been to, then Moheli could be just up your alley way! :-)
