“Really enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2014

Just returned from a two night stay. Very nice place! Room wasn't big, but fit two queens and a really nice sized fridge. Free ice cream at the pool, and lemonade and cookies at the front desk, really nice touches. Such simple things and its a wonder more hotels don't do things like that. It probably cost them all of $20 worth of ice cream and really made a big impression. Pool was a great temperature, very clean, and plenty of chairs. Didn't eat the breakfast but did order food from the restaurant at the pool and it was quite good and delivered fairly quickly. Had a little trouble with our tub draining, but no real problems. Wish the price was a bit lower or breakfast included, its certainly on the pricey side,at least in the summer, but would certainly return.

Room Tip: We did not have a room facing the pool, we were facing the courtyard. While the pool rooms had a pat...

We enjoyed reading your review. Thank you for staying with us. Ice cream has been a staple now for the 2 nd summer season, and it continues to really make everyone happy. We actually stole the idea from the Marriott in Aruba. Pool food has been very popular this season.

This was our first trip to Lake George and we were very excited! My mom called a week before to confirm out reservations and spoke to the concierge Amanda (I think) and she was excellent. She was upfront and honest about all the places we should see in our short stay. She told us what was worth seeing and what wasn't worth seeing and all of her recommendations were excellent. The ride on the Minne Ha-Ha steamboat was relaxing and scenic! The hotel lobby is very clean and the staff if very helpful and friendly. They are young kids who work there but they do their jobs well. There is a small store in the lobby that you can get some things like ice cream and toys and such. Our room was not ready when we arrived (check in is at 4) (check out at 11) so they called us when we they were ready. We stayed on the first floor with no view because the rooms are cheaper. The second floor is rooms with balconies and a view of the lake. IMPORTANT: this hotel is not on the lake!!! You are getting a view of the lake. The hotel is across the street from the lake area. The third floor is suites. Nonetheless, our room was nice and we didn't mind not having a view because we were barely in the room. The rug of the room wasn't entire clean and felt a little dirty but everything else in the room was well cleaned for our arrival. Beds were extremely comfy and the TV was modern and updated. My only complaint with the room was the size of the bathroom. It is extremely tight. The toilet, sink, and tub feel like they are on top of each other. The hotel restaurant on site had just an okay breakfast buffet. The outdoor area has many activities for kids and family. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, a fitness and business center too. On Mondays and Thursdays the hotel has someone cut up food and hand out complimentary snacks near the pool area. There is a bonfire area also where guests can sit at night and enjoy the atmosphere. Overall, this was a nice stay and I would stay here again. It's a good stay for people who don't want to be right on the lake and want to stay somewhere modern. It's not like the shady motels you drive by and is conveniently located on route 9. There's a valero gas station right next door and an A and W cafe right across the street (food wasn't great). It is also near the village and many mini golf places (I recommend Pirates Adventure).

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor with no view are cheaper!

The hotel has a good location. Certainly it is comfortable and clean. I was a little disappointed that you can view the lake from across the street. You must cross the road and walk down a hill to be near the lake area. Perhaps, this is not an issue for most people. Nevertheless, the hotel is impeccable and well managed indeed with indoor and outdoor pool for the kiddies. There is a cute playroom and breakfast as always in Holiday Inn Express locations. I suggest a steamboat ride for a fun afternoon and a nice history lesson of this amazing and serene vacation spot Lake George. Check out Bolton for little side trip on route 9 ....quaint.

Room Tip: AAA rate reasonable then view of pool etc.

Thank you for the nice review. The suggestion to visit Bolton was a good one. Nice little town only 8 miles up the road. The Sagamore is there and worth the trip to see it.
We hope to see you again.

I stayed at the HI Lake George a long time ago - pre-2000 and again in May 2014. What a change. From your run of the mill Holiday Inn around the country they have transformed this property to a true resort quality hotel. The rooms are excellent, the view spectacular and the Pool and recreational facilities both indoors and outdoors were fantastic. The kids had a great time. The indoor pool is a but hot but the outdoor pool is divine. The restaurant is definitely good although the hours could be a little extended on Holiday weekends. If you are traveling with kids I highly recommend this property. It is walking distance to the Fort McHenry and the boat rides at the Lake. Will definitely come here again.

One snag - when I had booked online I had requested the Suite with an adjacent room and to my dismay it was booked out - was definitely not happy with this mixup - make sure you get this in writing.

Room Tip: Pick Lake View rooms - anything in the back are cheaper and quieter but away from the action!

When you witness a hotel's pledge to its guests actually being carried out, you leave feeling VERY good about your experience. This is what you get at this facility. Great customer service, cleanliness and comfort is all around you. The staff is visible around the entire property saying hello & tidying up. I would return here in an instant.

We head to Lake George every summer for a few days and we've been to Holiday Inn Resort Lake George previously. This time, we decided to book a suite for a Mom, daughter and granddaughter. Everything was wonderful EXCEPT..... for some odd reason, we were never greeted by anyone at the front desk; upon check-in, during the course of our stay, and when we were leaving. I would however like to focus on the positive; great cocktail reception on Monday evening with complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres, free ice cream cart each afternoon, movie night, indoor and outdoor pool, wonderful breakfast buffet, and other activities. We will definitely stay here again and we do recommend this property.... We're still trying to figure out though why not one person over the course of 4 days at the front desk would greet us or say good morning or a quick hello. It's mind-boggling.

Room Tip: Suite is highly recommended :)
