Amazing time at the hotel with my family. Had a great room that overlooks the pool and the lake. Went kayaking with the kids and swim in the pool. Lovely staff beautiful place for breakfast in the morning in the restaurant. Just minutes from all the fun cutesy stuff in the town. Highly recommend

Drive

This was our third trip to Lake George. We crossed over the border at Cornwall. Customs was quick with no hassles like what was posted online and with the usual questions where are you going and staying, bringing anything illegal with you? It is a 4 hour drive through such beautiful country. We used our Jeep’s GPS instead of the Google maps that I printed out as Google had me totally lost. The drive along highway 37 scenic country was worth it as we went through the small towns like Lake Placid before we hit the Interstate.

Arriving in Lake Georges

Please don’t go by the maps that go with the third party hotel room booking sites they are way off. Thank fully Sandy doesn’t listen to me all the time or we don’t know where we would’ve ended up as I told her to turn at Lake Haven Motel

Georgian Lake Resort

This being our first time staying here at Georgian Lake Resort we didn’t really know what to expect. Knowing it was a bit pricier then what we usually pay (US $) and having visited the Cabana Bar which is the waterfront bar for the past couple of years before, we decide to give it a shot. Check in wasn’t bad.

At first we didn’t know where they were going to put us but we ended up in room 303 upstairs right behind the office which doesn’t sound great but it ended up having a nice view of the mountains and lake, if you kind of thought in a real estate salesman term lol.

The room was a great size with a king size bed, mini fridge, TV, alarm clock, telephone and a big bathroom. Alec was the housekeeper who kept the room in great shape and cleaned at the perfect time of the day so we didn’t have to leave the room

The only downside to our room was one night when we arrived back at the room, the room marked private two doors down from us caught on fire but the fire department had it out by the time we got back. The smell of smoke in our room was noticeable but the staff did a good job of airing out the room that caught fire

The pool and area was huge and very busy. They could use a few more loungers and stop the practise of allowing people to save the lounges early in the morning and not returning to late in the afternoon, so more people could enjoy the area. Seen a lot of people walk away because of no lounges

Outings

The location of the Georgian is great, you are within a closer walking distance to a variety of restaurants, shops and a Price Chopper then we were at Lake Haven.

We walked the boardwalk everyday along the lake starting at the park and sometimes ending at the Minne-Ha-Ha boarding slip, stopping at the many benches where I could relax, before continuing on. The weather was great as Sandy had her one day of shopping on our only rainy day.

Our first place we hit after arriving was Price Chopper for supplies.

Restaurants

We ate all our suppers and had our drinks at the Cabana Bar. There are other bars and restaurants but since we did our walks earlier I didn’t want to chance it for health reasons. We decided to stay close and not walk too far. Happy hour was from 4-6pm but didn’t include what we drank which wasn’t bad since they offered us buckets of beer which saved us some money along with the credit we received for booking through Georgian. Latoya who we met last year was there for the first couple of nights. We had a lot of laughs .She then went back to her managerial job and left us in the capable hands of Josh, Corey and Jonnie

The food at Cabana is good considering it is made at the main restaurant Giovanna's and you get it while it is still hot. The menu is limited, almost everything comes with chips (too bad). We had wraps mostly. Sandy having the turkey wrap all the time and me having something different nightly. The biggest laugh was when I ordered the Italian Stallion (take it from there). We had one night which drove Corey nuts when they couldn’t get a simple BLT wrap right. I guess somebody was having a bad night. I tried the wings one night and they are big and good, but if none of that is to your liking you could always suggest something that is not on the menu and they will try to accommodate you

I ate a couple of my breakfasts at Giovanna’s inside. Price was reasonable and orders where filling. View from the restaurant is also nice. We didn’t eat any of our suppers there as we found the air conditioning was too much by night time

Drive Home

Check out was at 11:00 am which was quick and efficient. We just followed the GPS in the car in our 4 hour drive home, enjoying the beautiful scenery and stopping at Tupper Lake for an ice cream . Customs was fast and no problems.

Final Statement

The main reason for our trip was our 35th Wedding Anniversary and the Georgian Lake Resort helped in making it a great time. We shall return next year, health allowing to enjoy another great week with our friend LaToya and new friends Corey, Jonnie and Josh in our new summer vacation spot

Amazing resort right on the water, they have a great pool with a family friendly dj on certain days. I can not wait to book another stay with them next year. My only recomendation is they upgrade their wifi service. Since it was a busy weekend the service was slow. I will be booking my next years stay in advance to this property and bringing more family.

Room Tip: The lake view rooms are literally on the water! Very peaceful!

The resort is located close to the village which was the best thing about the place. The grounds are in need of repair and to have to pay to rent old kayaks was a rip off. There are several other resorts in the area for comparable rates, I will choose a different location next time.
