The Georgian Lakeside Resort
Ranked #26 of 89 Hotels in Lake George
Reviewed July 13, 2009

We were charged 199.00 for a room that had no view of the water whatsoever and the room had a loud noisy air conditioner that didn't work right. Room did seem clean but very outdated for the term luxury hotel! The buffet breakfast was not worth 9.95 per person. Might have been really nice it its day. Feeling ripped off!

We thank you for providing your feedback regarding your stay at the Georgian.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you during your recent stay at the Georgian. The management team would like to strive towards perfection and would intimate the Maintenance team to be more meticulous about their rounds when checking the rooms(for AC). The Georgian also acknowledges that you would wish for updated rooms. All our Suite rooms have been updated as a part of routine refurbishment this Spring. We are updating rooms phase wise and will be eventually updating all rooms. The buffet breakfast will be addressed to the Chef to see how our valued guests can perceive it as a value for their money. Also our Front Desk team uses yield management to sell the rooms and has been advised of your suggestion regarding the rates. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to you and request you to provide us a chance to host your stay again at the Georgian.

We stayed only overnight and enjoyed the facilities. Room was clean with pleasant decor. Clean and comfortable bedding. Location is right on beautiful Lake George. Typical aging resort but nice enough, certainly not for the trendy. Reasonable rates. The restaurant was closed for winter season. It was very quiet there as we were visiting during the week in winter season. Office staff were friendly.

We have been to the Georgian many times on vacations over the last decade, and have noticed it's decline.

Went to a wedding this past fall.....banquet staff and food was wonderful, entertainment and decorations were great! Really fun time!

Our room was ok, but not 100%, banquet hall was dirty (on our friends wedding day!), walls and ceiling need repair, cob webs everywhere as well, vents all dirty......grounds should have been cleaned up more around the wedding hall area.

Our friend also told us that she has had many problems planning her wedding there during the last year in regards to communications with their planners.......maybe look elsewhere for yours?

Dear Guest,

We thank you for your review on tripadvisor. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during your friend's wedding. Our hotel has addressed the Banquet Room. A new GM is in place and we have been addressing all issues after going through the reviews left on tripadvisor. We have stepped up to Guest expectations and we ensure you shall see that change during your next visit to Lake George. Please do stop by and let us know what you feel.

We arrived and stayed in a shoreline room for $150/night. We entered the room, greeting by a mix of mildew and urine smell. When we pulled back the sheets of both beds there were at least 4 different types of hair scattered about leading me to believe these sheets hadn't been changed in a while. We called the front desk and they sent down housekeeping who changed the sheets to ones that were actually washed.

We then entered the bathroom to find hair in the shower on the floor. The urine smell was very strong in the bathroom. The second night we asked them to clean the bathroom really well and explained the problems. When we returned to our room, there was still hair on the floor and the stench of urine was present.

We later noticed semen stains on the blanket, not the comforter, the blanket which we had been sleeping under for two nights. GROSS!

I told the front desk about this on checkout, they notified housekeeping (as they had done the first time I complained, to no avail). Beware, be afraid, very afraid.

How can they call themselves a resort??? Nasty front desk personnel. No bellman to help bring bags to dusty , smelly, moldy 1950 's style rooms that have not been upgraded since that time.Telephone plugs pulled out of walls...Thus no phone the entire stay.1950  air conditioners humming vibrating whirring all night so not able to sleep .Bathtub spout coming out of the wall and not able to regulate temperature thus making taking a shower impossible unless you want to freeze or get scalded,.. Oh and the dining room with its thread bare carpets and fake dusty plants yet another throwback to the 50's.. Nothing at this RESORT is worth the price they charge and after having spent $2,000.00 for 4 nights for 2 rooms for our family vacation we feeel ripped off ....

We would like to thank you for your comments. We try and make every guests stay as pleasant as possible and certainly experiences such as yours we want to hear about so that we can make every effort to correct any issues. Unfortunately without knowing when you stayed and what rooms you were in rectifying them are difficult. Your comments about a bellman are interesting, usually in a motel style operation bellman are not common as all your rooms are on the exterior and without elevators, so using luggage carts is not feasible but it is a thought we will consider. Again, as mentioned in other responses we take all comments seriously and will work very hard to correct issues as they occur. Thank you again.

My husband and I have stayed at The Georgian for the last 4 yrs...We will be there again this August...We have stayed at surrounding motels in the area...The view is excellent, the service is friendly, comfortable ,and relaxing for Lake George...We live in lower Westchester Cty. N.Y. and realize a resort at Lake George is not a resort in the Caribbean....If you take it for what it is worth , it is an enjoyable , relaxing place......After all you are in the Adirondacks, N.Y.....Maybe the word "resort" does mislead people.....But as a New Yorker all my life, I understand the comfort of just being away from the madness of N.Y. and enjoying upstate.....The staff is friendly , and helpful when approached.....I cannot attest to the restaurant, as we always head into the village to eat...The outside bartender is a young girl who has been there for the past few years...It is a friendly , cordial atmosphere....The pool is enclosed and there is a nice seating area if you want to just have lunch there.....So if that 's what you're looking for, head to the Georgian........

Thank you for your recent comments. Receiving positive feedback always make us feel that we have reached our objective of making every guests stay as pleasant as possible. As you mentioned in your review the word “Resort” can be misleading, which is very true when comparing Lake George to the Caribbean or the Gulf of Mexico. But as I mentioned in an earlier response the word “Resort” means to relax and recreate and we here at the Georgian Resort feel we offer just that with our private beach, pool, patio, restaurant and lounge. To hear people saying that they had a relaxing stay means that we have done our job. Thank you again for your comments we hope to see you again in the future.

Every year my family and friends come back to the Georgian. Ages range from 85 to 23 and everyone loves it. We book the penthouses and the bathrooms are elegant. The pool is wonderful and the cabana bar has great food and drinks. Waitresses bring drinks to your lounge at the pool or to your room. The breakfast buffet is very reasonable, the staff friendly, and the food very good. For Lake George this is as good as it gets. There is a great view of the lake and the village is within walking distance. We love it here!
