“Our piece of Heaven!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2011

For the past 9 years, we've spent a glorious week in July at the Still Bay Resort on beautiful Lake George. We go there to refresh, renew & relax and there is no better place we've found! We think that it's the prettiest place on the whole lake, with it's expansive lawn and clean, sandy beach. The knotty pine rooms are comfortable and clean. There are picnic tables & charcoal grills to barbecue if you like and each room has a refrigerator which is really handy. There are many wonderful features to talk about at Still Bay, but our favorite is the magnificent breakfast they present every morning. It is served in the charming Main House at the top of the hill overlooking the lake. You can sit on the wonderful flagstone terrace eating the delicious food and drink in the most exquisite view you can imagine! We love to linger over our coffee and just revel in the beauty!
The other thing that makes Still Bay so absolutely wonderful are the gracious owners, Ron, Eileen & Bob. They make you feel so welcomed and are so warm and friendly. There is a real air of serenity there, like going back to a lovelier, gentler time. With the hectic, busy life we lead, we look forward so much to our week at Still Bay and we hope to continue to go there for many years to come.

and we will be back. Ron and Eileen are such wonderful people and everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. Other reviews will give more detail, but things that stood out for us are: free docking for our boat, spotlessly clean rooms, nice large beach area (other resort's loungers are 4 - 6 deep). And, for the location (love Bolton Landing) and the time of year it is a very good value. We have stayed at several other properties within the same price range and Still Bay is hands down the nicest.

Stayed here 2 nights on Memorial Day weekend as a last minute reservation. It was still pre-season, so the place was quiet and peaceful. They have a nice little beach but no childrens area like the rest of the resorts, so thankfully, the kid noise was very minimal. Our stay included breakfast which was a mixture of cereals, breads, coffee, juice and eggs. A little nicer than continental. The rooms are what you would expect from a lake resort, quaintly old fashioned, good only for sleeping after a long day out in the sun.

hotel had the most magnificent view of Lake George. it was a quite and extremely relaxing. the staff was very helpul as well. Due to religous purposes we needed special services such as a microwave in our room. staff was very freindly and helpul with making us as comfortable as possible as well as in planning our day.

we read a review on the hotel which said that they couldnt grill and therefor we didnt bring along anything. we were pleasently surprized when we arrived seeing that they had everthing there for a grill.
we had the most unbelivable experiance residing at the "Still Bay Resort"

My wife and I stayed a night at Still Bay on our way to the Adirondacks to pick up our kids at sleep-away camp.

Positives: The setting is quite nice, on a gently sloping lawn on Lake George. There's a sandy beach and boat house. There are also BBQ grills and picnic tables that allow families to have a nice meal without having to go into L. George Village. Breakfast was solid-- a selection of muffins, pastries, eggs and sausage. The grounds are large enough so that you're not right next to rowdy and loud neighbors on either side of the property. Guests were small families, couples and groups of adults as the property caters to all. There is free wifi, which is a major plus, but it is one of the few amenities offered.

Negatives: The rooms are very small, definitely dated and in desperate need of an upgrade. The bathroom is probably no more than 2' by 4', with room for a miniature sink and a small stall shower. Beds were reasonably comfortable, but the bed spreads had some stains and the lime green wall to wall carpeting was pretty gross.

All that said, we paid about $210 a night and thought the property offered an attractive value, but it's tough to see how one could award this 4 or 5 stars given the quality of the rooms and no swimming pool or tennis court. We would go back again with our kids for a few days, but it's hard to see how most high-end travelers wouldn't see this as a bare-bones, no frills property (resort is really not the right word).

I cannot say enough about the Still Bay. First, let me preface this by stating that I am completely OCD about hotel rooms. I will literally NOT sleep in a room that I think is unclean. I bring my own sheets, pillows, and towels everywhere I go. The Still Bay, however, made me completely comfortable. I not only slept on their sheets, I even let my 3 month old baby lay in the bed (which is big for me!!). The decor of the rooms is definitely very outdated, but they are IMPECCABLY kept clean. A+ for cleanliness from this very picky girl! My one comment is that the bathroom is very small with only a standing shower, however my little girl loved being taken in the shower for the first time!! If you are a big person you may have trouble, but if you're normal sized it's fine haha.

As for the hotel and the grounds...BREATHTAKING! I stayed in a downstairs room with a deck. The beach and dock were gorgeous to look at and awesome for swimming. The big front lawn was a great place to escape into the shade with the baby when even the umbrella was too hot on the beach. My hubby and I took turns on the paddle boats. Everyone was SO friendly. No one minded the occasional crying fit from my baby. Everyone was awesome! Very kid friendly yet somehow always peaceful calm and serene. We grilled on the grills they have available there one night and it was so so peaceful and enjoyable! And the continental breakfast was AWESOME!! Great staff, great resort, I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!

Our extended family ranging in age from 3 to 67 enjoyed four nights/five days at Still Bay. It is really a B&B not a hotel. The waterfront is great for young children, with a great expanse of clean sand to play in, shallow water to wade in and many lawn chairs for the parents to watch the kids. The deeper part of the swimming area and raft make it enjoyable for teenagers, too. There are excellent docks for your boat. The buffet breakfasts are delicous and ample, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The owners are very accomodating. It is not a place to "do" a lot except for water activities, but it is a great base from which to explore Lake George and the surrounding area.
