In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Lake George there is an under advertised park. It is located on Transfer Rd, off of Rt 9N on the southern end of the Village of Lake George. There is a set of trails used for hiking in the Summer and cross country skiing/snowshoeing in the Winter. We liked these trails because they are easily accessible and also can be hiked by most families. There is also a tubing hill...self powered...in the Winter. There are fields where you could have a picnic, play frisbee, fly a kite, etc. There are bathroom facilities. It is also free! I would recommend that you print a copy of the trail map available at the park website. There is a large map at the traillhead, but there were no printed maps we could take on the day we were there. This set of trails also intersects with a Nature Conservancy Trail...The Berry Pond Preserve for more serious hikers. http://www.lglc.org/NaturePreserves/BerryPond/ .You can enjoy a beautiful view looking north on Lake George to end the hike.
