Thought that the negative comments were exaggerations but they were spot on !Dirty towels, linens and rude owner (lilian ) told me one price and cabin on the phone only to find that I was over charged and my cabin was given away to a returning guest. Shame on you !!! We won't be back.

After reading some of the negative reviews, we were almost "spooked" enough to cancel our reservations for this resort- but we decided to give it a chance, and were we glad we did! We would have missed out on a really neat place to vacation. While the "rustic" log cabin lodge resort is not for everyone, it was exactly the kind of place we enjoy-from the exposed log walls in the lobby and even the bathrooms, to the gorgeous stone fireplace, and our favorite, the wrap around porch with huge log posts with a lovely view of the property and lake (where we could also relax with a paper and cup of coffee and watch the kids run around in the grass and play ping pong)-this resort was very homey and comfortable, with definite character. It is not a luxury hotel, and definitely not a cookie cutter chain hotel, but a neat place for those looking for something a little different. Being just a short way north of the "village"- and surrounded by trees, this resort seemed secluded from the crowds, which was nice. Although the private beach area is kind of small, it is still right on the lake, and enables guests to wade into the lake for a swim, or jump in one of the boats provided and take a ride out on the lake-which we did every day and enjoyed so much. The location on the lake was great. The pool was nice, and having plenty of grass for the kids to run and play was nice. There were just enough other guests to provide opportunity to meet new folks if you like, and the kids to find playmates, but is was suprisingly quiet and uncrowded in the resort. We enjoyed cooking out on the grills provided and had a picnic dinner in the pavilion one evening. The rooms are a little on the smaller side (we had a 2 room suite in the main lodge), but clean and nice enough, and most of our time was not spent in our rooms anyway-we had no complaints about the rooms. As for the owners, and some of the bad reviews- we had nothing but good service and and both were very courteous and friendly. Ernie even took the time to sit and talk to us a few times, telling us a bit of the history of the resort. We really enjoyed this resort and would definitely stay again and our first trip to Lake George was great, we loved this area and the lake.

This was my first time staying at the Alpine Village Resort, and I must say I had an excellent time. The man who owns it is extremely friendly and chatty and is very helpful with questions and concerns. The cabin we stayed in was just what we wanted. The cabin was very rustic; I enjoyed seeing no vacation-like photos hanging on the walls, no advertisements for the place laying on the table, and no phone. ...it made it feel like we were out in the woods and away from civilization. There were cobwebs, but it only added to the rustic feel.

The only problem we had was with the owners wife who is rude and doesn't show any appreciation for anyone or anything. Thankfully, we only dealt with her once. According to her husband, she doesn't do much around the place to help out, but his friendliness makes up for her attitude.

If you love the feeling of relaxing in a rustic cabin surrounded by nature, I suggest you go here.

If you've been pampered and taken care of your whole life ...then go check in to one of the many luxury hotels and enjoy your vacation with all of the other tourists who can't stand the thought of living in a cabin for a few days.

This was exactly the type of relaxing, rustic experience we were looking for on our stop-over in the Adirondacks. The atmosphere suited us perfectly.

If rustic is your ticket, a log cabin here is the spot to go. If fancy is your ticket, well, what are you looking at rustic resorts for?

We went to celebrate my husband birthday with my family. We had a wonderful time Lillian and Ernie were very helpful , we had to extend our stay. It was very sad when we came back to Queens.

Stayed at the alpine village resort in late October and could not have asked for a better time. The views of the lake are remarkable especially with the fall foiliage. The resort itself was as expected rustic. If you are looking for the ritz and want to be pampered- go somewhere else. Read several bad reviews about the owners and was expecting the worse. Not a problem. They were very hospitable and seemed like generally nice folks. Cleaning service was prompt with ample towel supply. Fireplace in the cabin completed a great trip and would visit again.
