“We LOVED it here!”
Reviewed September 14, 2010

We stayed in Log Cabin Number 8 for a week. We couldn't of asked for a more beautiful scenery as you walk out the back covered porch from the living room. A few feet below the porch was a running stream, pine trees and a view of the lake. It was priceless! I loved drinking a morning coffee while sitting in the quiet on the back porch. On the upper level of the cabin there is also a fully covered porch that overlooked Lake George. There were two chairs in a small table on the upper level porch. Our cabin had a master bedroom on the 2nd floor with king size bed, ceiling fan and tub/shower. Down stairs we had another bedroom with twin beds and a couch that opened up to a sleeper. The cabin had a full size kitchen and washer/dryer (I took beach towels with us and used the machines everyday), outdoor grill and table chairs on the down stairs porch. Our cabin had central air and heat, ceiling fans thru out. Everyday we swam in the indoor/outdoor pool overlooking the lake and beach. My kids loved it. The beach area was clean with plenty of chairs and sun loungers. The children were able to fish off the docks and use the children's play area. The hammocks were also a nice touch and very relaxing over looking the lake.

The only thing I could see for improvement was the cabins internet connection. For the $10 day connection, which didn't work most of the time was frustrating.

For grocery shopping we shopped down the road at the Super Walmart. There are many restaurants and fun things to do. For visiting Lake George for the first time it was a real pleasure staying at this beatuiful place and enjoying the many attractions the area had to offer. We will be back again.

Just got back a week ago. Definitely a very nice resort on the Lake. Cottages are awesome, very spacious and almost brand new. Stayed on the third floor, the lake view was manificent.
Resort is very nice, def. would stay there again. Lake George is beautiful, only disappointment was the time of year I went. 85% of the attractions close after 2nd week of October, but the fall folliage was beautiful, lots of wineries. Drive to Lake Placid was very nice, only 2 hrs. and 3 hrs. from Canada, dont forget yr passports. Take the cruise on Lake George very nice. RCI only has availablity in the Off Season, which is not good.

We stayed over labor day weekend at the Lodges at Cresthaven at one of the 2 BR lodges. I must say we found the property itself to be quite nice overall. Our lodge was pretty new, had a nice rustic Adirondack style to its furnishings and met our needs. It had 3 flat screen tv's, a small stereo, full kitchen, large living room, dining area, and a master suite with a nice ensuite bathroom including a jacuzzi. The pool and fitness center were quite nice, the indoor/outdoor pool was great, the kids loved it. The Boathouse was a nice restaurant and has a nice bar.

The "but" is that this property appears to be a condo time share unit, and some of the attention to details and the "service" is on a par with this type of operation, not a proper resort, and not one which charges the prices they do. Based on some research (here on trip advisor) it seems that the Lodges might be one of the better properties in Lake George. But there a number of details which separate it from a true resort type experience. The check in is perfunctory at best, and mostly concerned with collecting any balances due than welcoming you or pointing out any highlights of the property or area. There are numerous "rules" which I'm sure make for an efficient time share operation but again don't fit the definition of a high end resort.

There are no towels provided by the pool or fitness center, and there is a rule saying that you are not allowed to bring towels from the room to the pool and fitness center, that you were supposed to have brought your own. And how was I supposed to know this? Even if I was informed of this, I don't think this is the level of service they are charging for.

The pool was not at its claimed 85 degrees temperature and the hot tub definitely wasn't as it was chilly and unusable.

While we found the master bedroom quite nice, there was an overhead skylight and several windows which did not have shades, making it difficult for my wife who is a light sleeper to sleep through the night. Also, the master bedroom which has the whole Adirondack decor has satin sheets on the bed - a little strange? The downstairs bedroom had bunkbeds which we thought would be great for our small children, but the lack of a railing on the top bunk made them unusable and frightening to the children. The kitchen has no granite countertops as shown in the property pictures, agree with the other reviewer that the quality of the kitchen is overstated in the pictures.

We also had to remove all garbage and haul to the dumpster. We were also supposed to do the towels and linens laundry at chekout. Not to be a jerk - but isn't this why I'm paying a high price, for service and for someone else to do this?

We asked the day before our check out, on labor day, if we could have a late check out. Their check out time is 10am. 10am, really. I don't recall ever having a 10am checkout. Maybe 11am, but even then you can usually get an hour later no problem. The answer to the request for a late check out, was something like: "Well we don't do that, and if you are more than 30 minutes late there is a $100 late check out fee!". This on labor day when the room is definitely free the next day and there is no guest checking in! Again the checkout procedure was wholely focused on any balances due and not whether we enjoyed ourselves or the area.

So - nice property - but fix the details and get some proper service if you want to charge these prices.

I've stayed in some nasty places in Lake George..We go there for the Lake...After I had kids we couldn't stay at any of the mice infested, dirty bathroom motels, god knows how many bed bugs are in some of those places. We refused to stay anywhere that didn't have the amenities, the cleanliness of the rooms with the convenience of a beautiful lake front. My children are very young and love the Lake, being so this Lake has a large shallow area it gives the little ones the ability to walk in without being fearful of deep water. We now go to the lodges every Year in July or August and I will never go anywhere else.

We just came back from five days at the Lodges. It was delightful. We stayed in Lodge 32 and have a beautiful view of the Lake. It was so relaxing. We have absolutely no complaints except for the very steep location. If you are looking for some exercise, this is the place to get it. My husband had knee replacement surgery three months ago and the hike to the second level condo (approximately 30 steps in total) at times was a lot for him (even for me)! But worth the view from the top when you got there.

We were there for classic car show weekend, so town wa very busy. Most restaurants were open, so we had lots to chose from.

We would go back again no questions asked, but would prefer one of the one level cabins closer to the Lake.

Myself, my husband, his parents and our 2 kids stayed here for 2 years in a row. It's a wonderful property and resort. I have nothing but good things to say about it. We usually book our summer vacation in January when they start accepting bookings. This past January they notified me that they were raising there weekly rate by $2,000!! Holy smoke...that meant $5,000 for one week in Lake George just for lodging?! I like it there but not that much! For less than that price we are going to Cancun this year in October.

We just got back one week ago from our visit (MY first to Lake George) to The Lodges at Cresthaven. The Lodges were recommended to us by a friend. It was myself, my husband and his 80-something parents.

We really loved the genuine log cabin atmosphere, and our view was spectacular. Just a couple of days before our arrival, Jane from the office offered us cabin #19 as it had become available. It was lovely. The front porch was so nice, and would have been even better if the weather wasn't so chilly.....and rainy....oh, well.

Any problems we had were addressed immediately. Our dishwasher wasn't providing water, and the maintenance man fixed it immediately. Also, the microwave oven wasn't working properly, and that was fixed in no time....fast, friendly service. The kitchen was stocked with enough utensils and dishware for our needs. Everything was clean.

The fact that this resort is set on a steep incline might be a challenge for some. My aforementioned 80-something in-laws are in great physical condition, so it did not pose a problem for them, but I would not recommend this resort to anyone with disabilities or mobility problems, as there are uneven steps and hills galore. There is also no access to the cabins other than steps (that I saw).

It should be noted that you are expected to place your Lodge-provided bath towels, washcloths, etc., in the washer and start it before you check out, and the same with the dishwasher. My opinion is that they should provide towels that are not so thick. The towels were so thick that they won't dry when you hang them up after your shower, so you are using a damp towel the next morning. In addition, all those thick towels and washcloths are hard to fit in the washing machine at one time. It's a nice idea, but I feel that standard hotel towels would be just fine and easier to manage.

The location was great. We were just a short drive to Lake George Village and all the outlet shopping and restaurants.

We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend The Lodges at Cresthaven to friends and family.

  • Liked — The view and the authenticity of the log cabin.
  • Disliked — Small bedrooms, configuration of bunk bed in bedroom #2, hills and steps on the property.
