My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Erolwest from June 17th to June 19th. The room rate was $250 a night. This was the second B&B we stayed at and I can't believe it actually topped the first one. The service was equivalent to any five star hotel. The castle is tucked away overlooking Lake George. We felt like we were in a different world for the weekend as we stayed in this gorgeous castle. We stayed in the Erlowest room, beautiful large room with a cozy fireplace and sitting area as well as a huge beautilful bathroom. The bathroom had a very large heart shaped jacuzzi. Beware this room does not have a tv. We noticed the other rooms all had a either a regular tv or flat screen. It didn't bother us that the room was missing a tv because we purposely wanted to get a away from it all. The staff was unbelievable. Mark who seemed to manage the castle was always there every time we stepped out of our room. When we first arrived and got out of our car, Mark came running to help us with our luggage. He personally escorted us to our room and showed us how to work the fireplace and jucuzzi. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We were right above the the kitchen and we awoke each morning with the scent of bacaon, eggs and pankcakes. The castle has an award winning French chef. They serve a full breakfast which Mark personally ensured that we had. Even though we arrived late for breakfast he called the chef and insisted that we eat. Breakfast was delicious. So much so we had to make reservations for dinner. Mark ensured that we had a wonderful table reserved and suggested that we arrive at a certain time to enjoy a quite dinner. I live in NY and I must say this chef is among the best. Dinner ran $200 with tip as we also indulged in European wines. Mark picked out our entire dinner for us and he was so right on about the dishes. The morning we checked out Mark had to leave early and personally wished us a safe trip. Another staff member provided suggestions on nearby hiking trails. There is a patio overlooking the lake with a fireplace. Cocktails are served on the patio. Only disappointment was that the fireplace was not on any night that we stayed even though it was quite chilly out.
In terms of activities, we went horseback riding only 5 minutes away and we rented a speed boat and went out on the Lake (only 10 minutes away). We went to Lake George Village the first night we got there (could have skipped that all together). We stayed about 20 minutes and then left. All in all would recommend this castle like getaway to any one looking for a a romantic getaway.
