This past summer (July, 2013), my husband and I took my son and his girlfriend to Lake George. It was an impromptu trip from our hometown of Malta which is about 45 minutes south of Lake George. We hadn't planned anything, just a walk around. We parked right down the street from Wax and Wix and came upon the store by chance. My son's girlfriend wanted to go in and "see the candles." So glad that we did. We were greeted by the owner who was an absolute delight. She showed us the types of candles we could make, how to do it and then just let us go. We picked our candle colors, shapes and scents and got to work chopping up our colored wax and dropped them into the molds. This is an easy activity that kids from ages 5 up can participate in. There is no hot wax either. After we fill up our molds, we simply hand them over to the owner and then walked around Lake George for about an hour. When we returned to the store, we saw our beautiful candles! They were pretty inexpensive too. If I recall, a medium sized candle was only $8-10.
I also overheard the owner talking about a bridal party coming in to make over 200 specialized small candles for decorating at the wedding. This could easily be a great bachelorette party first stop - kill 2 birds with one stone! Have the party and have your attendants help with the decorations! Highly recommended!
