A family of 4 is expensive just to do a self-tour. I think it cost us about $55. That was a shocker. Its an interesting Fort which overlooks the Lake. Beautiful views. But extremely pricey.

Enjoyed the tour very much and especially when the children were able to dress and participate. The history was very entertaining.

Both of my kids, ages 10 and 12, really enjoyed this, as did I. We learned a lot and had fun doing it.

The tour guide told a very interesting story and the best part is that it was full of fun for the kids. They got to watch a "real" soldier firing a "real" musket who engaged in funny banter with the tour guide, they got to watch a "real" soldier fire a cannonball from a replica of the original cannons (there were original cannons onsite though), and the best part, they got to dress as soldiers, "enlist" in the army, march with toy muskets and perform military manuevers, get a certificate of enrollment in the army, and get a paid for their duty! My kids were THRILLED.

The tour starts was an old-fashioned movie, the kind we watched in school 30 years ago that seem so dated now but gets the info across that it needs to, The tour finished with an opportunity for you to wander through the small museum on your own. It was nothing fancy but taught us a lot.

There is a big gift store which we enjoyed poking around in. Another highlight of the Fort is the incredible views of the lake from the top.

Two thumbs up!!

My husband and 8 year old son loved it. They actually set off a grenade they used from that time. The fort was a 2 hour activity not more than that.

It depends on your personality and the likes and dislikes of those you are traveling with. I like Colonial Williamsburg. This is of course not anywhere as good as that. The introductory film has no actors...a uninspired narrator speaks as you watch still pictures that you might find in a kid's history book. After that it gets better, a British soldier comes out and takes you around the fort. It is informative and he and his fellow soldier do things like...exlain about and shoot a musket...explain about and fire a cannon....explain about and toss a grenade...Kids at the end can put on a soldier's red coat and hold a musket...pretending to fire....they just sy "bang". Oh...my child got to shoot rubber tipped arrows with the bow and arrows they provide. Maybe you and yours will like it. There is a museum too.....historic stuff under or behing glass. Most kids won't care. Many adults too. Some do. Ponder these things and decide for yourself. Everybody's different.
