Owner description: During a 1791 visit, Thomas Jefferson was moved to say, "Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw." Not much has changed. Today this 32-mile long, 3-mile wide dazzling lake draws vactioners who come to enjoy a plethora of outdoor endeavors including sailing, swimming, cruising on historic steamboats, hiking and more.

“Beautiful lake to be enjoyed by all age groups”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Explaining about Lake George can go on endlessly. It is a beautiful lake with small patches of sandy beaches. A quaint town is built around the lake. Food, accommodation and travel is quite cheap here. I can tell you what to do in the 24 hours that you are there. Take a morning walk around the lake. The sun rise is amazing. Have a quick breakfast and do the various water sports until about lunch time. Have lunch and get into the bus. It charges just about a dollar or two and it takes you in different directions of Lake George. Next drive up Prospect mountain and get a panoramic view of the lake from different heights. By about 9 pm get back to the lake and take a two hour cruise which serves dinner. While going around in the cruise, you will notice the houses by the lake, each designed and colored differently and to go with them are the small boat shelters in the water attached to each house. There are other attractions too and you need at least 2 to 3 days to enjoy it. Every age group can enjoy the visit to Lake George.

LG is a great town on a fabulous lake. Boating, beach, plenty of restaurants. The arcades are always fun at any age.

“lower your expectation”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Lake George is good, but below my expectation, and does not live up to the reputation as the “queen of American lakes”. The cruise on Minne Haha is good. Two things are memorable. Many colorful parasails dotted the sky. Passing a small islet with a swimming pool, we saw several men and women there. They lined up, waving to us, and then turning around to moon us. The sight was neither sexual nor unfriendly, but surreal and entertaining.

“A happening place.”
Reviewed August 9, 2014

Been going to Lake George every year since I was born. So much energy! A great place to bring your family (including the dog!). Also a great place to meet up with friends. Absolutely gorgeous and clean. Reasonable prices for food and souveniers. Crazy busy though, but with so many options it's easy to just move on if somewhere is too crowded. So much to be said about Lake George Village. I prefer staying in a hotel Like Fort William Henry where I can park and walk everywhere, but there is a shuttle that runs constantly through town and stops all over.
