Owner description: During a 1791 visit, Thomas Jefferson was moved to say, "Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw." Not much has changed. Today this 32-mile long, 3-mile wide dazzling lake draws vactioners who come to enjoy a plethora of outdoor endeavors including sailing, swimming, cruising on historic steamboats, hiking and more.

Be careful about assuming that the Trolley will run back and forth to the Village on a regular basis. My parents are camping and they were told by the campground that the Trolley will be available to transport them back and forth - NOT SO. After Labor Day - the Trolley only runs on Saturday. If you are camping and don't have a vehicle - you will be limited as to where to go. The RV parks are about 1.5 miles from the village - too far to walk. After Labor Day - everything around the Village seems to just come to a stop - including transportation. Even though events are still going on - getting visitors to and from the Village are difficult. Just be aware. Also - taxi service is available but extremely expensive.

Lake George is a vast lake with plenty to do. There are a plethora of places to stay with small towns and communities surrounding the water. Action on the lake is at an all time high July and August with power sailing, boat cruises restaurants on the water and beautiful scenic views.

Great place for families and kids. We're retired, but we loved looking at the delighted children's faces.

We love the lake. It has to be the cleanest I've seen on the east coast. It is well worth the visit.

Great lake to visit with friends and family. Can get congested during a busy holiday. The atmosphere has changed over the last 20 years. I have been coming here since I was a child and am 37 now. The tourists are different now and many people no longer speak english and can be quite rude. No different than hitting the Jersey Shore now I guess.
