“good party place - not for families -@least not mine”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2005

We go up w/ a lot of families from our area each year - not the most stellar accommodations, but do-able, IF you bring your own sheets, etc. Not exactly the Hyatt or Four Seasons - nevermind even a Holiday Inn or Marriott

Mind you, a tree fell down (and almost killed) some of my friends in a cabin a couple of years ago while they were sleeping - I guess the trees aren't looked after.

The staff IS rude, and very un-accommodating.

Cabins are nothing special, but this place serves our purpose - come up, have a good time, party, and pass out.

I would NEVER plan a family vacation there

BUT... as long as my husband and I have our "fun shoes" on, and no kids, and clean sheets - it's ok by me on a fun weekend! Live it up!

We have been going to Depe Dene for many years now and will continue to go for as long as we can. We see the same families every year and have watched their kids grow as ours have grown. Our kids now bring boyfriends each year and hope to bring their families one day. We have planted flowers and plants and have watched them grow from year to year. Our beach suite is clean and nicely equipped. Towels are there for everyone and available when asked for. The staff couldn't be nicer and there are a thousand different things to do on the resort and in the village. I wouldn't trade Depe Dene for any other place I've ever been on vacation !!

I've read all of the negative feedback from the unsatisfied vacationers at th d.d. resort and must say that it sounds as though they were looking for accommodations at the sagamore. Our whole family vacations at the D.D. every year for at least the past 20 yrs.The staff are what i would say as polite to you as you are to them,so expect what you give them in return. The rooms etc. are very suitable for a great vacation spot. Any resort has its little problems, and a lot of them are caused by us, the inconsiderate vacationer.Do yourselves a huge favor and before you take any vacation start looking at the glass half full instead of half empty. The battle will be half won at that point and you'll be able to start enjoying your time there immediately.Bring your boat, bikes ,kids, in-laws, well maybe we won't go that far! This resort is in my opinion the best on the planet. Wake up just one morning and look out of townhouse#6's back door toward the lake which is about 50 feet away and you'll be doing what i do for 7 great days each year, wonder how i'm going to get 2 weeks next year.John, down at the docks is a great guy as are all the guys that work there. The wave runners that he rents there add to your overall vacation pleasure. If you have a boat he'll make sure that you have what you need.To those of you who didn't find this resort as pleasurable as i do,I'd just have to say thanks for making more room for more of our family and friends to join us ,as we now are up to around 50 people in our group to make a yearly trip to this little gem on lake george's coastline. Can't wait till july.

My family and I were supposed to stay at the Depe Dene Resort the week of July 4th 2004. After checking in, we proceeded to our room where we found the filth and smell that other reviews have stated. In addition, we found an infestation of carpenter ants above the bedroom where my children were suppose to sleep. A staff member at the Depe Dene came and saw the ants. The management still refused to give us our money back. So we sued and won!!! After reading other guest reviews, I wanted to let them and others know... DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH TREATING PEOPLE THIS WAY! THEY ARE WRONG.

Run run far away from this place. In fact run from the whole town. The staff, when ever you could find someone, treat you like you are bothering them. The garbage pails are always overflowing and have bees, flies, etc. all over them. The rooms havent been updated since they built the place. The carpets are disgusting, the rooms tiny and filthy, you have to beg for extra bath towels, the beach is a disaster and the water is cold and dirty. The "Playground" is rusted, falling apart and unsafe. I would rather let my kids play with broken glass then their playgrounds. The town doesnt want you there. It is rediculously overpriced for everything. They have summer cops who are just about every ten feet just waiting to write you a ticket, the store owners follow you around like a common criminal, every store ammazingly has no working restroom, there is no internet connection even in the library (unless you are a town resident of course). The food is horrible, service stinks and they will arrest you if you dont pay the convientently added on tip. (See Newsday 09/14/04 for this joke.) The people in this town would be broke if it wherent for the tourist and it seams they wish to be that way.

I can't say enought I have been going to Lake George since 1977 every summer and some winters. The best years the last 17 years we found a treasure of a place. Built and upgraded each year to make my family play together (stay-together) The beach, the water taxi, the fishing, the play grounds, pool, game room and the list is endless I have a 21, 17, 13 & 2 year old and we always look foward to our family annual trip. One year we had a problem with the hot water with in minutes of making a complaint. I think that over the last several years we always bring an extra childs friend with us and they to rave. The Lone Bull pancake house located on the property is the best. The view is priceless, Directly accross the street is a horseback riding stable. From the top of the mountian you will see a view that you will always remember. On the lake, beach staff couldn't be more helpful.

i have been visiting depe dene resort for the past 13 years and my parents have been there for thier whole life. depe dene is very well managed and clean, there is very nice staff and it is the most fantastic place i've ever been in. There is a new and improved HEATED pool and a nice beach you will be thrown out of your seats when you go there. The rates are great and if you want to have more fun check out adventure racing on Route 9 just south of the Great Escape next to Pirate's Cove Golf, in the Town of Queensbury. You can go on go carts and play paintball and play lazer tag...it's very fun.
