Their wraps, chili, and fresh baked bread are enough to give Sammy D's five stars however I can attest as a frequent visitor that the entire menu holds up. Conveniently located in the outlets and just near Great Adventure, it is a go to stop in Lake George. Pick up a sandwich for a boating day on the lake or stop for a rest during a day of shopping. You won't regret it. We had Sammy D's cater a party for us which was a hit with everyone in attendance.

I was shopping with dad at the Lake George Factory Outlets and went to use the restroom, which is located near Sammy D's Cafe. The smells of the fresh bread, cakes and cookies being baked were too much to resist. Dad and I split a big bowl of chili and a cheese steak sandwich. MORE than enough for 2 people. The chili was amazing and the steak sandwich was made with REAL steak... not some variety of Steak-um meat that is often passed off for real steak. On the way out I went to complement the woman behind the counter only to be met with the most scrumptious, mouth-watering and irresistible aroma of brownies that were just removed from the oven. I had to have one. Dad and I both agreed that these were the best brownies we have ever tasted. For the rest of my life, any brownies I eat will forever be compared to the one I had at Sammy D's. I can't imagine ever having one that will be better than that. If you happen to be shopping at the outlets or in the area in general, I would strongly recommend having a bite at Sammy D's. Oh I almost forgot... leave room for the brownies!!!

So my wife and kids (6 and 8) were staying in Lake George, NY for some water slide fun and a break from the cold. It was about noon on a Sunday, and we needed to find something to do. There was a HUGE amount of designer outlets just down the road my wife was dying to shop at. I reluctantly agreed to go. Upon entering the mall, I smelled food, and we all became very hungry. I saw a nonchalant little eatery up the hall a bit, and thought no way is that culinary delight smell coming from there. We approached the cart looking joint, and saw a wacky menu, I didn't really get it at first. The girl behind the counter immediately fell into form, politely telling us all food was made from scratch daily. Hmmmm, a little hole in the wall (literally) scratch cooking daily? She went on to explain the "Sammy" sandwiches, all exotic health choices. So I chose the "Fireman Sammy", my wife chose the daily special. My daughter saw an awesome slice of pepperoni pizza , and my son chose their signature chicken nuggets with all white breast meat.

Order was in, so we sat down across the hall on some seriously grungy chairs, my son even put napkins down since he would not sit on the soiled cloth. Now we wondered if we made the right decision. We waited patiently.

Food came out, looked like it was seriously show food done up by a food artist and not intended for consumption. We all started to dig in, and my first bite exploded with layers of insanely incredible flavors, reaching deep into savory, salty and spicy. It had pure white and moist chicken breast, avocado, crispy thick bacon, nicely melted smoked Gouda, and a very tangy/spicy BBQ type sauce all on a toasted homemade wheat bun. As a long time foodie and nasty critic of most prepared foods, this sandwich rocked the house and I can not wait to drive the 60 miles to get it again.

My wife's spinach and artichoke sandwich was prepared with freshly chopped spinach, artichokes maybe from a can, with a thick creamy egg and garlic mixture (like quiche) , and plenty of mozz cheese. Clean, simple and absolutely delicious.

As I never fed my kids any processed foods (well very little), they are very discerning with their pizza and chicken nuggets. If the pizza crust isn't fresh and crispy, forget about it. If the nuggets are made with anything but pure unadulterated white chicken breast, don't ever bother. My daughter said here pizza was awesome, and wished she could have finished the ginormous sized slice (I took care of it, gladly). The "nuggets" my son ordered should be properly labeled as strips, as that is what they are. He literally said they were the best chicken nuggets he has ever had. Turns out this is a gluten free shop, I have had some gluten free product and it was always dull and much like sawdust. I later found that the owner is a graduate of the C.I.A. and it shows through in his menu and cooking.

This place is nestled in a huge array of disconnected buildings, look for the Coleman Factory Outlet, its the only store I can remember in that particular mall. In the front door and they are on the left about 40 feet. Awesome food, great prices and just a hidden treasure!
