Amber Lantern Motel and Cottages

Not sure where to start. I will start by saying that if YOU ARE OFFERED MONEY to stay here, you're better off staying home.

First of all, before booking the place for a 6 night, 5 day stay, we checked the website and also called to confirm that the pictures of the 2 bedroom cottage that we were looking at was indeed the cottage we'd be staying in. We were told that it was. It looked very nice on line. The rooms looked big and "Updated".

Well, opon arrival, I walked in before my girlfried, and it looked NOTHING like the cottage we saw on line. It was old and outdated, and the first little thing we noticed was that the sliding glass door was filthy dirty with caked up dirt from God knows when. When we went to go out for the first time (To buy Cleaning supplies, mind you). The lock was broken and we could not even lock the door. We had put down half the money as a deposit, and when I went to let the women know that the door was broken, she actually told me "Lets take care of the bill first, then I'll take a look"! I should have known right there what we were up against. So like the fools that we were, we paid in full, and she came and fixed the lock.

It was all down hill from there, as I can go on and on about the dirt and mishandling of the cottages. It seems that they spend NO MONEY at all in keeping up with the place. We had a housekeeping cottage, which comes with a kitchen, stove, and appliances... Other then the the dirty and unusable pots and pans, the disgusting stove, the spider webs in the cottage, the bathroom that was so small you could hardly turn around without banging your head against the wall, everything was wonderfull.. Oh, I forgot the Toaster that had a burnt plug that I would have created a fire with if I had used.

There was a community BBQ that still had food caked on it from prior useage. We asked for a Brush and were told that they did not have one. We endend up buying our own. Maybe the worst part was that any problem we did have, we were reluctant to report because it did not seem like the owners cared enough to make us happy.

The Owners actually own "Tired Johns" located right next door. It is a Rib /BBQ place and I am still recovering from the one meal we had there. It seems like a grat deal. All you can eat Buffet. But the food was bland and overcooked.

I can go on and on.. It's a shame, because we paid good money to stay there.
We would not go back in a trillion years.
Nuff said.... Good luck in your serch. Just pass this place up if you come across it.
