This is the second time that I have stayed at the Kingston Hampton Inn. The place is very well maintained and extremely clean. The maintenance man is constantly cleaning SOMETHING....the floors, the workout room, pool area, tables, etc.. The complimentary breakfast is great...and free coffee, tea, juice, ice water, and fruit were available all evening. The room was clean and in great condition. Comfy beds, nice lighting, and free wifi.
One thing that sticks out to me, as a female traveler with kids, is that the place feels safe. They utilize video servailance and the lock system on the side entrance doors, laundry room, pool, etc. Many times when I have stayed at hotels, including Disney, they do not activate the locks requiring your room key, meanaing anyone off the streets can enter. I was very pleased, both times that I stayed here, that they are using safety measures that are in place. It drives me crazy when hotels do not do this!!!
The hostess, Sandy, is so helpful and friendly.
One tip is to ask to have a room away from the elevator. It can be a bit noisy.

Room Tip: Ask to have a room away from the elevator.

We stayed two nights here in lieu of forking over a fortune to stay close to Hunter Mountain for skiing. Two rooms, I King and 1 with 2 Queen beds.
The hotel was impeccably clean and well appointed. Beds cozy and comfy. Rooms have microwave, fridge, coffee maker and were in great shape.
Breakfast was included in the price and although not a gourmet affair was more than adequate to get the day going with. Juice and coffee available pretty well all day.
Located opposite a large mall and plenty of shopping and eating nearby. Not a picturesque location but functional and close to major road connections.

Following this site, I sought out one of the "better" hotels in the Kingston / Woodstock area for one night. We were actually doing business in Woodstock, however, the inn and hotels usually require 2 nights minimum stay.

This Hampton Inn is the same cookie-cutter type found in anytown, USA. I had no problem with the innocuous nature of the hotel, however, there were a few problems I had with the property. The bed and pillows were cheap and had no structure/form. Further, the hotel is near a train track, which you can hear at night and very early morning. Upon reading the other reviews, I specifically asked for a room away from the train noise; our room was in the front of the building. Both issues ended up giving us a very bad night's sleep.

The rest of the Hampton Inn fare was as expected and average. The breakfast - while plentiful - was a bit institutional: scrambled eggs and bacon looked and tasted like it came from a school cafeteria; coffee, cereals, etc. were all fine. The furnishings had that oversized, pre-fab, non-descript feeling. Everything was clean and the service was satisfactory. The hotel had a pool & small gym: they looked fine, but we never used them; it was nice that they were opened until 11PM. All of this is expected for the nature of the hotel and price-point of the service.

As aforementioned, the bed and train noise were the issues here. The bed should be easy to fix ... but, the train noise is another issue that might be harder to mitigate.

I had a great stay at this property. This is definitely one of the nicest Hampton's I've had the pleasure to stay at. The property - common areas and rooms were clean, comfortable and all personnel we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. We had none of the issues with train noises as some others have noted. The location was perfect for my needs. I had noise concerns as I knew the hotel was sold out that weekend, but there was no issue in that regard. I definitely would stay here again when I return to the Hudson Valley.

This hotel is situated not 100 feet from a busy train track. If you are looking for a good nights sleep this is definitely not the hotel for you! There were long black hairs in my wife’s bed and on the bathroom towels. (Hampton inn boast bed linen being changed after every guest, not in this case!)

All that said, the breakfast was good, the staff were friendly and helped where ever they could especially Farrah on the front desk.

Room Tip: Try the court yard accross the road you may get a better nights sleep. If you have to stay reserve a room on the entrance side of this building away from the train track.
