My daughter and I stopped on our way home from Lake Placid. Great little place! The food was very good, the service was excellent! One of the owner's stopped at each table to ask how everything was. She was very friendly and genuinely interested if we were enjoying our meals. They have all home made pies for dessert which are delicious! I highly recommend the chocolate cream. Will definitely be stopping in again in the future.

In the Adirondacks, locally sourced foods are a special joy, and ADK has delicious meats, wonderful greens and seasonal produce from farms in the area. Both Fiona and Larry are uncompromising in their sourcing and preparation of the dishes on their menu. If you are vegetarian or just like a break from animal protein, the menu has great options including the tempeh reuben, my favorite sandwich on the planet.
Running a cafe with such quality food is a killer job, and the consistent quality of this gem is very notable. It is our home away from home.

This wonderful small eatery was right next to our cottage (Dartbrook Cottages). The atmosphere was simple and warm, no need for excess knock knacks etc.. The service was outstanding, our waitress (all three meals we had here) was really nice and helpful. We felt instantly welcomed. My first dinner was Lasagna Bolognese, perfect on a cool and rainy evening. The second evening, I had Cobb Salad w/ a cilantro pesto vinaigrette. Dessert was Lemon Shaker Pie. Both very good. Breakfast was hearty and filling, cheddar omelet w/ thick slices of homemade toast. I would definitely go back next time I am in the area.

Stopped by for lunch on our way to one of the many hiking trails in the area. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was great - locally sourced and refreshing. I had the smoked trout Caesar salad, which was wonderful, if a bit too much dressing. Finished off lunch with a slice of pie. Overall, a very nice rest stop before an afternoon of hiking.

Exploring the Adirondacks, do not miss driving through Keene and stopping for lunch (or breakfast or dinner as they serve at those time also).

We happened by chance upon Keene as our drive took us that way and it was nearing lunchtime. As this was the beginning of May we we're really 'between the ski season and the summer season' as a lot of places seemed to be closed and many attractions did not seem to open up until Memorial Weekend. Not so in Keene. A very unassuming building with the sign ADK Cafe across the door, and lots of cars sitting outside - an indicator that this is either the only place open or all the locals go there fore lunch - either way we pulled in.

We crossed the threshold to be welcomed by the smell of freshly baked loaves of bread - there must have been 20 or more cooling on the side. We took a table and looked over the menu and soaked up the rustic atmosphere.

Service was pleasant, unassuming and to be honest they let their food do all the talking. We both ordered the chicken and bacon club sandwich with home made chips.

The sandwiches arrived lightly toasted, the chicken was perfectly moist, the bacon lightly smoked, with freshly cut tomatoes and lettuce and some mayonnaise, and the bread was tasty and light. It was the best 'sandwich' I have had in years.

This was certainly a find in the area so if you are looking for some excellent home made food where the quality of the food served is what is important, pop in and stay a while.
